Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya pemahaman teknis dan aplikatif terhadap sistem bahan bakar pada mesin turbin pesawat, khususnya fuel ejector, yang berperan vital dalam menjaga kestabilan aliran bahan bakar dan efisiensi pembakaran. Tujuan utama dari kegiatan ini adalah menganalisis performa fungsional fuel ejector serta memahami penanganan malfungsi yang berdampak terhadap performa engine. Menggunakan pendekatan observasi lapangan langsung, dokumentasi teknis, dan metode Root Cause Analysis, dilakukan analisis terhadap beberapa kasus malfungsi fuel ejector yang ditemukan pada unit Engine Services PT GMF AeroAsia Bali. Studi ini mengidentifikasi faktor penyebab seperti keausan komponen, kontaminasi bahan bakar, serta ketidakteraturan perawatan sebagai pemicu utama. Proses investigasi dilengkapi dengan teknik analisis Fishbone Diagram dan 5 Whys untuk menelusuri akar masalah secara sistematis. Evaluasi dilakukan terhadap efektivitas solusi teknis dan perbaikan yang diterapkan, serta disusun rekomendasi preventive maintenance mencakup prosedur inspeksi berkala, jadwal pembersihan komponen, dan standardisasi dokumentasi pemeliharaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penerapan strategi perawatan berbasis akar penyebab dapat menurunkan potensi gangguan sistem hingga lebih dari 50% dan berkontribusi terhadap peningkatan keandalan operasional mesin pesawat, menjadikan fuel ejector sebagai komponen yang krusial untuk ditangani dengan pendekatan engineering yang holistik dan presisi tinggi.

This study was motivated by the critical role of fuel ejectors in ensuring stable fuel flow and combustion efficiency in aircraft turbine engines. The primary objective was to analyze the functional performance of the fuel ejector and understand the handling of malfunctions that impact engine reliability. Utilizing a combination of direct field observations, technical documentation, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA), this research examined several fuel ejector malfunction cases within the Engine Services unit at PT GMF AeroAsia Bali. Key contributing factors such as component wear, fuel contamination, and irregular maintenance procedures were identified as dominant root causes. The investigation employed Fishbone Diagram and 5 Whys techniques to systematically trace the underlying issues. Effectiveness of the corrective actions was evaluated, and preventive maintenance strategies were proposed, including scheduled inspections, component cleaning protocols, and standardized maintenance documentation. The findings indicate that applying a root-cause-based maintenance strategy can reduce the risk of system failure by over 50%, enhancing engine operational reliability. This highlights the importance of treating the fuel ejector as a critical component requiring a holistic and precision-driven engineering approach.
