Abstract

The design of the breakfast area of the Watudodol Hotel and the Kiluan Office was developed with an approach that emphasizes contextual suitability, spatial efficiency, and regularity of form. Both were designed for tropical environments, but with different site characteristics and functional requirements. The Watudodol Hotel breakfast area prioritizes openness and simplicity. This semi-open dining area was designed as part of the hotel complex, adhering to coastal boundary regulations, and promoting natural circulation, visual connectivity with the landscape, and ease of access for users. The spatial modules and structural rhythms were designed to be easily realized, functionally efficient, and in harmony with the surrounding environment. The Kiluan Office, on the other hand, exists in an urban context with a more closed and systematic approach. The design emphasizes a clean mass composition, an efficient arrangement of workspaces, and visual control through a grid and regularity of form. Openness is expressed not through physical spaciousness, but through functional interconnections between spaces, and a massing strategy that responds to the needs of contemporary work organization. Both projects reflect a design attitude that not only responds to function, but also consciously arranges space in relation to site, structure, and architectural expression, with attention to detail, measurability, and precision in design decision-making
