Abstract
Industri tembaga yang minim di Indonesia menyebabkan ketergantungan impor dan penurunan daya saing industri lokal di pasar global. Hal ini menaikkan biaya produksi dan menurunkan profit, sehingga perusahaan merencanakan pembangunan workshop batang tembaga sebagai solusi. Praktik keinsinyuran ini mencakup perancangan pembangunan workshop tiga tungku menggunakan prinsip Upward Continuous Casting (UPCAST), berkapasitas 9494,88 ton/tahun per tungku dengan produk batang tembaga TU2 Ø8 mm. Bahan baku produksi adalah copper cathode grade A (Cu ≥ 99,99%), yang melalui proses peleburan, deoksidasi, kristalisasi, dan penggulungan. Pada proyek ini, dilakukan perhitungan neraca massa dan energi, serta perhitungan spesifikasi tiap instrumen berdasarkan standar internasional, pada workshop produksi dan sistem air pendingin. Uji kelayakan workshop tidak hanya dilakukan secara teknis, namun juga ditinjau dari segi ekonomi. Didapatkan efisiensi penghematan per tahun sebesar 21,53% dari perbandingan biaya produksi batang tembaga mandiri dan biaya impor batang tembaga dalam jumlah yang sama. Selain itu, dibuat pedoman keamanan dan keselamatan workshop sesuai pengoperasian tiap alat. Tentunya, perancangan ini menganut kode etik insinyur dan prinsip profesionalisme.

The limited development of the copper industry in Indonesia has led to a high dependency on imports and a decline in the global competitiveness of local industries. This situation increases production costs and reduces profitability, prompting the company to initiate the construction of a copper rod workshop as a solution. This engineering project involves the design of a workshop equipped with three Upward Continuous Casting (UPCAST) furnaces with capacity of each 9,494.88 tons per year, producing TU2 Ø8 mm copper rod. The raw material used is copper cathode grade A (Cu ≥ 99.99%), which undergoes processes including melting, deoxidation, crystallization, and winding. The project scope includes mass and energy balance calculations, as well as the specification of each equipment unit in accordance with international engineering standards. These calculations cover the production line and the cooling water system. In addition to technical evaluations, an economic feasibility study was conducted and indicates an annual cost efficiency of 21.53% compared to the cost of importing an equivalent quantity of copper rods. Safety and operating guidelines have been developed in alignment with the operational characteristics of each unit. The entire design process strictly adheres to engineering codes of ethics and principles of professionalism.
