Abstract

Konteks dalam arsitektur sering dipandang hanya sebagai pembatas dari sebuah rancangan sehingga banyak dijumpai konteks sekedar untuk upaya merespon force, memberikan kenyamanan pengguna, maupun sebatas merespon isu yang ingin diangkat. Dewasa ini, teknologi semakin berkembang dan memiliki pengaruh pada pemahaman mengenai konteks. Batas – batas konteks yang sebelumnya sangat eksak kini menjadi blur. Peran konteks dalam arsitektur ini menjadi sebuah pertanyaan yang layak untuk dikritisi. Salah satu upaya yang dapat dilakukan dalam menjawab isu yang diangkat ini adalah dengan menggunakan konteks itu sendiri menjadi sebuah generator ide dalam proses rancang, sehingga keputusan desain bergantung pada konteks yang dimasukan. Proses transformasi konteks menggunakan pendekatan post-functionalism dengan menggunakan enclosure dan content sebagai medianya. Proses tersebut dapat dilakukan dengan addition, yaitu memasukan “konteks” baru ke dalam konteks asli rancangan, dan imitate, dengan mengimitasi konteks asli rancangan ke dalam sebuah “konteks” baru yang dicoba untuk dihadirkan. Melalui kedua metode ini diharapkan mampu menjawab seberapa jauh peran dan pengaruh konteks dalam metode rancang arsitektur.

Context in architecture is often seen only as a limitation of a design so that many contexts are found just for an effort to respond to force, provide user comfort, or only respond to issues that want to be raised. Nowadays, technology is growing and has an influence on understanding the context. Context’s boundaries that were previously very precise are now blurry. The role of context in this architecture is a question that deserves to be criticized. One of the efforts that can be made to answer the issues raised is to use the context itself as an idea generator in the design process, so that design decisions depend on the context entered. The context’s transformation process uses a post-functionalism approach by using enclosure and content as the medium. This process can be done by addition, which is inserting a new "context" into the original context of the design, and imitate, by imitating the original context of the design into a new "context" that is trying to be presented. Through these two methods, it is expected to be able to answer how far the role and influence of context in architectural design methods is.
