Abstract

Baja AISI 01 (Oil-hardening cold-work tool steel) banyak digunakan sebagai cutting tool sehingga diperlukan sifat kekerasan yang tinggi. Dengan perlakuan panas hardening yang tepat serta kondisi yang terjaga kekerasan maksimum dapat tercapai. Dalam pelaksanaan proses hardening mula – mula spesimen ditimbun dengan bahan pencegah dekarburisasi (geram besi tuang atau arang kayu), atau tidak ditimbun. Kemudian masing - masing dipanaskan hingga 810° C, lalu ditahan pada temperatur tersebut dengan variasi : 30, 90, 150 menit, dan selanjutnya diquench di dalam oli. Dengan proses perlakuan panas tersebut material baja AISI 01 mengalami peningkatan angka kekerasan dengan penambahan waktu tahan hingga batas tertentu. Distribusi angka kekerasan mulai dari permukaan hingga ke inti adalah sama. Variasi bahan penimbun pencegah dekarburisasi ( arang kayu dan geram besi tuang ) menghasilkan angka kekerasan yang sama dengan yang tidak ditimbun. Dan memiliki struktur mikro karbida speroidal dan martensit

AISI 01 (Oil-hardening cold-work tool steel) is widely used as a cutting tool, so it requires high hardness properties. With proper hardening heat treatment and maintained conditions, maximum hardness can be achieved. In the implementation of the hardening process, the specimen is first filled with a decarburization inhibitor (cast iron chips or wood charcoal), or not filled. Then each is heated to 810°C, then held at that temperature with variations: 30, 90, 150 minutes, and then quenched in oil. With this heat treatment process, the AISI 01 steel material experiences an increase in hardness value with an increase in holding time up to a certain limit. The distribution of hardness values ​​from the surface to the core is the same. Variations in the decarburization inhibitor filling material (wood charcoal and cast iron chips) produce the same hardness value as the unfilled one. And has a microstructure of spheroidal carbide and martensite
