Abstract

Sifat mekanik yang dimiliki oleh ductile iron tergantung dari jenis matriksnya. Dengan mengubah matriks penyusunnya, maka bisa mengubah · sifat mekanik dari ductile iron tersebut. Perubahan dari matriks tersebut dapat dicapai melalui perlakuan panas austempering. Pada Austempering Ductle Iron, mula-mula material dipanaskan sampai temperatur Austenisasi (900 °C) kemudian di tahan pada temperatur tersebut selama satu jam. Selanjutnya dilakukan proses quendching menuju temperatur 300, 350 dan 400 °C kemudian ditahan lagi selama 30, 60, 90, 120, 180, 240 dan 300 menit, terakhir didinginkan normal di udara. Dengan proses perlakuan panas tersebut material FCD 50 mengalami peningkatan harga kekerasan, impact strengh dan memiliki struktur mikro seluruhnya bainit

The mechanical properties of ductile iron depend on the type of matrix. By changing the matrix composition, the mechanical properties of the ductile iron can be changed. This matrix change can be achieved through austempering heat treatment. In Austempering Ductile Iron, the material is first heated to the Austenitization temperature (900 °C) and then held at that temperature for one hour. Next, the quenching process is carried out to temperatures of 300, 350, and 400 °C, then held again for 30, 60, 90, 120, 180, 240, and 300 minutes, finally cooled normally in air. With this heat treatment process, the FCD 50 material experiences an increase in hardness, impact strength, and has an entirely bainite microstructure
