Abstract

Research has been carried out to design an irrigation system using solar power for rice fields in Purwokerto Village, Kendal Regency. The purpose of this study is to determine the need for solar panels and batteries used, knowing the discharge of the solar water pump after installation. There are two steps in this research, the first is the design stage for solar water pumps requirements which aims to deterine the component specifications of a solar power plant system that suits the needs of the pump. The second, the testing stage of the solar water pump with the aim of finding the effect of the intensity of solar radiation on the output power of solar panels, inverter output power, and the amount of water discharged generated by the pump. From the calculation needs and the design results, selected component of solar power plants which specification is 8 solar panels 450 Wp, an inverter hybrid solar MPPT with 3,500 W of power, and 2 batteries 12 V-100 Ah. Futhermore, the PLTS installation process is carried out. After PATS can function properly, testing is carried out for three days from 09.00 to 15.00 WIB, data collection is carried out every hour with three repetitions. The test results show the average value of solar radiation intensity is 667,63 W/m2 and with that intensity PLTS is able to produce an output power of 3,45 kW. The inverter output power used by the pump is 1,45 kW and the pump capable to producing an average water discharge of 5,604 liter/hour.
