Abstract

The short harvest time of oyster mushrooms causes the change of disposable baglog media to increase every year. This causes the accumulation of baglog waste that has the potential to pollute the environment. On the other hand, baglog waste that is not utilized still contains nutrients that can be used as a planting medium by composting, which is by using a consortium of microorganisms. The aim of this study was to determine the role of the consortium of microorganisms in converting baglog waste into planting media based on the quality of the NPK value and to conduct qualitative and quantitative descriptive analysis using One Ways – ANOVA followed by post hoc LSD test with 95% confidence level to determine the best treatment and ratio of the media based on leaf area, plant height and number of leaves of Brassica juncea. The method is carried out by making a consortium of microorganisms using bacteria (P1, P2, K1), yeast G32 and mold 1039 and 2003 with cell density values at about 107 cells/ml, 1014 cells/ml, 1010 cells/ml and EM4 with a 2.5 (baglog waste) : 1 (EM4) which is then carried out by the composting process on baglog waste. Baglog compost that has been cooked then mixed with planting soil and animal manure to produce a planting medium. The results showed that the consortium of yeast, bacteria, and molds played a role in converting baglog waste into growing media as indicated by the N values of 0.74%, P 0.24%, and K 0.18% which had met the standard value of SNI 19-7030-2004 with a minimum value of N 0.40. %, P 0.10%, and K 0.2%. Furthermore, the type of treatment and the ratio that gave the best growth results was Ks 5:1, namely compost produced by a consortium of microorganisms with a soil to compost ratio of 5:1, with the value of leaf area, plant height, and leaf number of mustard greens 30 DAP respectively 80.01 cm2, 23.75 cm, and 8.00.
