Abstract

Arya Wiraraja merupakan tokoh politik licik yang memiliki keterlibatan besar di balik sejarah runtuhnya kerajaan Singhasari dan berdirinya kerajaan Majapahit. Politik balas dendam yang dilakukan Arya Wiraraja menarik untuk dibahas sebagai materi pelengkap sejarah SMA. Sebuah studi menunjukkan tingginya minat pada media motion graphic untuk menyampaikan materi sejarah Majapahit, membuka peluang untuk menceritakan sejarah keterlibatan Arya Wiraraja melalui video eksplanasi motion graphic dengan konsep visual yang mengadaptasi wayang kulit sebagai pembeda dari video eksisting. Untuk mencapai itu, metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah studi literatur tentang Arya Wiraraja untuk membuat alur cerita, kemudian dikonsultasikan pada ahli story-writing sehingga menghasilkan naskah. Dilanjutkan dengan studi eksperimental untuk membuat eksplorasi visual yang selanjutnya dikembangkan menjadi storyboard. Storyboard kemudian dikonsultasikan pada pakar animasi., dan hasil konsultasi dikembangkan melalui prototyping. Video motion graphic tersebut kemudian diujikan pada target audiens untuk dievaluasi. Luaran yang dihasilkan dari perancangan ini adalah video eksplanasi motion graphic keterlibatan Arya Wiraraja di balik berdirinya kerajaan Majapahit, yaitu babak pertama dari politik balas dendam Nabok Nyilih Tangan yang dilakukan Arya Wiraraja. Video dikemas menggunakan konsep visual adaptasi dari wayang kulit dengan narasi berbahasa Indonesia untuk menyampaikan ilmu pengetahuan tentang sejarah kerajaan Majapahit kepada audiens yang akan dipublikasikan melalui platform YouTube.

Arya Wiraraja was a cunning political figure who had a major involvement in the history of the collapse of the Singhasari kingdom and the establishment of the Majapahit kingdom. Arya Wiraraja’s political revenge is an interesting topic as a complementary material for high school’s history class. A recent study showed high interest in motion graphic media for Majapahit history, thus opens up opportunities to make a motion graphic explainer video about Arya Wiraraja’s involvement using the visual concept of wayang kulit as a differentiator from existing videos. To achieve that, the research method used is a literature study on Arya Wiraraja to create a storyline, then consulted with a story-writing expert to produce a script. This was followed by an experimental study to create a visual exploration which was then developed into a storyboard. The storyboard was then consulted with animation experts, and the results of the consultation were developed through prototyping. The motion graphic video was then tested on the target audience for evaluation. The output is a motion graphic explainer video of Arya Wiraraja's involvement behind the establishment of the Majapahit kingdom, or more precisely the first round of Arya Wiraraja’s political revenge called Nabok Nyilih Tangan. The video is presented by adapting the visual concept of wayang kulit with to convey knowledge about the history of the Majapahit kingdom to the audience which will be published through the YouTube.
