Abstract

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is an essential digital innovation in the construction industry that contributes to improving project efficiency, stakeholder coordination, and project control. However, the adoption of BIM in Indonesia still faces several challenges, particularly in terms of organizational readiness and individual acceptance. This study aims to analyze the level of readiness of PT. Z in implementing BIM and to identify strategies that can enhance its acceptance using the Technology Readiness and Acceptance Model (TRAM). This research applies a confirmatory quantitative method with a case study approach at PT. Z, a state-owned enterprise providing project management consultancy services. Data were collected through a survey of 85 respondents, consisting of Management and Project Site Team members. The analysis employed the Relative Importance Index (RII) for initial descriptive insights, independent sample t-tests and Spearman correlation analysis to examine differences and relationships among variables, and Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) to test the TRAM framework. The findings indicate that respondents’ perceptions of BIM are relatively high, particularly regarding long-term benefits, openness to innovation, and its ability to detect project issues at an early stage, with no significant differences observed between management and project site teams. The main barriers identified include limited facilities, concerns about data accuracy, and a lack of technical confidence. The SEM-PLS results confirm that the TRAM model explains 55.7% of the variance in intention to use BIM, with perceived usefulness emerging as the strongest determinant, followed by perceived ease of use and innovativeness. In contrast, optimism and insecurity were not found to be significant. In conclusion, PT. Z demonstrates a relatively high level of readiness to adopt BIM, but improvement strategies such as establishing a BIM roadmap, strengthening infrastructure, and providing training and competency development programs remain necessary to ensure more effective and sustainable implementation.
