Abstract

Malang City is one of the largest cities in Indonesia with high tourism potential. To harness this potential, the Malang City Government innovated by providing a free tourist bus service called Malang City Tour (Macito) as a means of recreation and education. Following the Covid-19 pandemic, public enthusiasm for Macito Bus services increased, but this was not matched by optimal information presentation quality and service systems, which impacted the user experience of tourists. This research aims to design an integrated information design system for the Macito Bus that can improve the ease of accessing information, strengthen the image of Malang City's heritage tourism, and create a more effective and communicative tourism experience at every interaction point (touchpoint). This design utilizes the User-Centered Design method, with the research process including literature studies, existing studies, comparative studies, direct observation, and in-depth interviews with Bus Macito management and relevant experts. The external aspect of this plan is a design system guide for Macito, which adopts the concept of "Discover Malang Paris Van Oost Java" and its implementation across all external media. Validation results through user testing showed a significant improvement in tourists' understanding, comfort, and experience after the implementation of the information design system. This finding proves that this design is capable of improving information quality, visual consistency, and user experience, thus having a positive impact on the value, image, and development of Bus Macito as a tourist attraction in Malang City.
