Abstract
Tuberkulosis (TBC) masih menjadi isu kesehatan utama di Indonesia, yang merupakan negara dengan jumlah kasus kedua tertinggi di dunia menurut data Global TB Report 2024. Dari total 1,09 juta kasus tahunan, sekitar 135.000 di antaranya terjadi pada anak usia 0–14 tahun, dengan proporsi yang signifikan pada kelompok usia dini. Anak usia 4–6 tahun, sebagai kelompok usia prasekolah, termasuk kategori rentan tertular TBC sejalan dengan perkembangan karakter dan kebiasaan hidup pada masa ini. Sumber penularan utama bagi anak adalah anggota keluarga dekat yang sakit TBC aktif, ditambah dengan fakta bahwa anak pada rentang usia ini sedang membentuk kebiasaan dan perilaku higienis, termasuk etika batuk. Rendahnya praktik perilaku hidup bersih dan sehat (PHBS) seperti tutup mulut saat batuk dan pentingnya edukasi sejak dini menjadi latar belakang mendesak bagi upaya intervensi edukatif berbasis media yang sesuai perkembangan anak. Tujuan utama dari perancangan buku cerita bergambar ini adalah menyediakan media edukasi yang mampu meningkatkan pengetahuan, membentuk sikap, dan menstimulasi tindakan higienis terkait pencegahan TBC dan etika batuk pada anak usia 4–6 tahun. Buku ini ditujukan untuk membantu anak memahami secara sederhana mengenai TBC, media penularannya, pentingnya menutup mulut saat batuk dengan harapan perilaku batuk higienis dapat terbentuk sejak usia dini. Selain itu, perancangan ini juga bertujuan menguatkan peran aktif orang tua maupun pendidik PAUD sebagai mitra dalam mendukung pembelajaran kesehatan anak. Metode yang digunakan dalam proses perancangan adalah pendekatan kualitatif, Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui wawancara dengan ahli kesehatan anak, pendidik PAUD, serta studi literatur mengenai media edukasi untuk anak usia dini. Rancangan desain grafis menyesuaikan prinsip-prinsip ilustrasi, pemilihan warna, tipografi, dan alur cerita yang sesuai perkembangan kognitif dan psikososial anak usia 4–6 tahun—mengutamakan visual dengan narasi sederhana. Hasil yang diharapkan dari perancangan buku ini adalah terciptanya media cerita bergambar yang mudah dipahami oleh anak usia 4–6 tahun, serta dapat digunakan baik di lingkungan keluarga maupun di satuan pendidikan anak usia dini.

Tuberculosis (TBC) remains a major health issue in Indonesia, the country with the second-highest number of cases worldwide, according to the 2024 Global TB Report. Of the total 1.09 million annual cases, approximately 135,000 occur in children aged 0–14 years, with a significant proportion in the early childhood age group. Children aged 4–6, as a preschool age group, are particularly vulnerable to TB infection due to their character development and lifestyle habits during this period. The primary source of infection for children is a close family member with active TB, compounded by the fact that children in this age range are still developing hygiene habits and behaviors, including cough etiquette. The low level of clean and healthy living behaviors (PHBS), such as covering the mouth when coughing, and the importance of early education, are the pressing backdrop for developmentally appropriate media-based educational interventions. The primary objective of designing this illustrated storybook is to provide educational media that can increase knowledge, shape attitudes, and stimulate hygienic practices related to TB prevention and cough etiquette in children aged 4–6 years. This book aims to help children understand TB, its transmission channels, and the importance of covering their mouths when coughing, with the hope that hygienic coughing behaviors can be developed from an early age. Furthermore, this design also aims to strengthen the active role of parents and early childhood education educators as partners in supporting children's health education. The design process employed a qualitative approach. Data collection was conducted through observations of children's behavior in early childhood education, interviews with child health experts and early childhood educators, and literature review on educational media for early childhood. The graphic design incorporates principles of illustration, color selection, typography, and storylines appropriate to the cognitive and psychosocial development of children aged 4–6 years—prioritizing engaging visuals with simple narratives. The expected outcome of this book design is the creation can easily understood illustrated storytelling medium for children aged 4–6 years, and can be used both within the family environment and in early childhood education.
