Abstract

Perkembangan sosial dan emosional merupakan aspek fundamental dalam pendidikan karakter anak usia sekolah dasar. Namun, mayoritas mainan edukatif yang tersedia saat ini masih didominasi oleh produk yang berfokus pada aspek kognitif, sedangkan pendekatan pembelajaran emosional melalui media bermain belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan merancang mainan karakter modular yang berfungsi sebagai media representasi emosi, guna mendorong anak mengeksplorasi serta mengelola perasaan mereka secara aktif. Metode perancangan dilakukan melalui pendekatan berbasis pengguna (user-centered) yang meliputi tahapan observasi mendalam, eksplorasi konsep, hingga pengembangan purwarupa yang diuji langsung kepada anak. Target pengguna utama adalah anak usia 7-10 tahun, mempertimbangkan kematangan mereka dalam memahami interaksi sosial. Hasil perancangan menghadirkan fitur bongkar-pasang pada wajah dan tubuh untuk memfasilitasi perubahan ekspresi dan gestur. Seluruh dimensi produk dan mekanisme sambungan dirancang dengan mengacu pada regulasi keamanan nasional untuk mainan anak guna meminimalisir risiko fisik saat digunakan. Mainan ini diharapkan dapat menjadi alat bantu interaktif yang selaras dengan kebutuhan kurikulum sosial-emosional serta tahap perkembangan anak.

Social and emotional development is a fundamental aspect of character education for elementary school-aged children. However, the current educational toy market is predominantly focused on cognitive development, while tools for emotional learning through play remain underutilized. This study aims to design a modular character toy as a medium for representing human emotions, encouraging children to actively explore and manage their feelings. The design process employs a comprehensive user-centered approach, progressing from in-depth observation and concept exploration to iterative prototyping and user validation. The primary target audience is children aged 7-10 years, chosen for their developing capacity to understand complex social interactions. The resulting design features modularity in the face and body, allowing for customizable expressions and gestures. Product dimensions and connection mechanisms were developed in strict adherence to national safety regulations to ensure suitability and safety for the target age group. This toy is intended to serve as an interactive educational aid that aligns with social-emotional learning curricula and child development needs.
