Abstract

The increasing number of motorcycles contributes to higher exhaust gas emissions containing harmful pollutants such as carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen dioxide (NO₂), ammonia (NH₃), ozone (O₃), and suspended particulates. This study aims to design and evaluate a smart exhaust air filtration system integrated with real-time monitoring. The filtration system consists of a water filter, HEPA filter, ionizer, and zeolite, while the monitoring system employs turbidity, pressure, MQ-131, and MICS-6814 sensors integrated with STM32 and ESP32 microcontrollers and displayed through an Internet of Things (IoT)-based interface. System performance was evaluated by comparing exhaust emissions before and after filtration at various engine speeds. The results indicate that the smart exhaust system is able to reduce harmful gas emissions without causing a significant increase in exhaust back pressure. Therefore, the proposed system has potential as an effective solution for reducing motorcycle exhaust emissions.
