Abstract

The escalation of the global ecological crisis has mutated into a massive existential threat that exceeds the capacity of human comprehension, fulfilling the definition of a Hyperobject. However, contemporary architectural paradigms remain confined within anthropocentrism, positioning nature merely as a commodity—manifested in defensive and destructive coastal reclamation projects. This speculative research aims to formulate an architectural configuration capable of shifting spatial hierarchies toward interobjectivity through the application of Object-Oriented Ontology (OOO). The methodology employs a generating systems approach by transforming five characteristics of hyperobjects—viscosity, non-locality, temporal undulation, phasing, and interobjectivity—into ecological design algorithms. The resulting design is an Offshore Maritime Conservation Hub in the Madura Strait, a nomadic autonomous system integrating Aero-Kinetic propulsion units to achieve true non-locality. This infrastructure consists of functional organs: the Mothership as the operational chassis, alongside fabrication and research towers operating within a closed-loop metabolic cycle. Architecture no longer exists as a passive container but as an active agent (actant) producing Residual Architecture—restoration modules that undergo petrification to merge into natural coral reefs. This research concludes that resilience against ecological crises can only be achieved through the ontological transformation of buildings from static objects into active ecological systems operating across geological timescales. This zero-physical footprint strategy proves that massive architectural intervention can occur without leaving destructive residues while repositioning humans from dominant subjects to biosphere maintenance operators.
