Abstract

Dihedral bulbous bow mampu memberikan pengurangan hambatan kapal dengan cara membentuk dua surfaces yang terdiri dari tiga garis. Dengan dihedral bulbous bow, sudut masuk(iE) kapal di waterline dapat dikurangi yang mengakibatkan hambatan pressure berkurang. Dengan menggunakan computational fluid dynamics (CFD), proses mencari hambatan total kapal dapat dicari. Dari hambatan total kapal, dapat dipecah menjadi dua komponen yaitu hambatan viskos akibat dari tegangan geser fluida pada wall dan hambatan pressure akibat dari gaya normal yang bekerja pada wall. Kapal DTMB 5415 yaitu kapal benchmarking experimental fluid dynamics (EFD), dipasang dihedral bulbous bow. DTMB 5415 dengan dihedral bulbous bow mampu memberikan pengurangan hambatan total berkisar 18.67%-21.48% terhadap hambatan total dari DTMB 5415 eksisting. Sementara pengurangan hambatan pressure dan hambatan viskos adalah 41.06%-54.76% dan 0.73%-1.40%.

A Dihedral bulbous bow bring total resistance through make a two surfaces from three lines bulbous bow. With dihedral bulbous bow, the ship's angle of entrance (iE) at the waterline can be reducted, resulting lower pressure resistance from the original design. Through Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), the total ship resistance is detemined and decomposed into two components: pressure resistance, due to normal forces acting on the hull, and viscous resistance, due to fluid shear stress on the hull. DTMB 5415, a benchmark ship for Experimental Fluid Dynamics (EFD), was fitted with a dihedral bulbous bow. The results show that the DTMB 5415 with a dihedral bulbous bow achieves a total resistance reduction of 18.67% -21.48% compared to the original design. Specifically, the reductions in pressure resistance and viscous resistance range from 41.06%-54.76% and 0.73%-1.40%, respectively.
