Abstract

The aviation sector is one of the significant contributors to greenhouse gas emissions, thus requiring the adoption of more environmentally friendly fuels, one of which is Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) or bioavtur. Used Cooking Oil (UCO) has considerable potential as a feedstock for bioavtur due to its abundant availability and its origin as household waste. This study aims to analyze the potential availability of used cooking oil in Indonesia, evaluate the existing collection system, and design an efficient logistics model to ensure a sustainable supply of bioavtur feedstock. The research method employs secondary data related to cooking oil consumption, used cooking oil potential, collection points, and land and sea transportation, with the study area focused on Java and Sumatra Islands. The results indicate that the national potential of used cooking oil is quantitatively sufficient to meet the feedstock requirements for bioavtur production; however, the current collection system has not yet been optimally developed. The proposed logistics model shows that a combination of land and sea transportation is the most efficient alternative, where land transportation is more suitable for the Java region, while sea transportation is optimal for the Sumatra region, thereby reducing logistics costs and improving the effectiveness of the used cooking oil collection network.
