Abstract
Laporan magang industri ini membahas analisa estimasi kebutuhan make up water pada sistem cooling tower di PT. Bhirawa Steel. Cooling tower berfungsi untuk mendinginkan air sirkulasi yang digunakan dalam proses produksi, sehingga menjaga kestabilan temperatur peralatan dan sistem pendinginan. Analisa dilakukan dengan mengkaji parameter operasional cooling tower, meliputi temperatur inlet dan outlet, wet bulb temperature, range, approach, serta efektivitas pendinginan. Selain itu, dilakukan perhitungan terhadap kehilangan air yang terjadi pada sistem cooling tower, seperti evaporation loss, drift loss, dan blowdown, untuk menentukan kebutuhan make up water yang optimal. Data yang digunakan diperoleh melalui pengamatan langsung, pengukuran lapangan, serta studi literatur yang relevan. Hasil analisa menunjukkan bahwa kebutuhan make up water dipengaruhi oleh kondisi operasional dan karakteristik sistem pendinginan yang digunakan, sehingga diperlukan pengelolaan yang tepat agar sistem cooling tower dapat beroperasi secara efisien dan berkelanjutan.

This industrial internship report discusses the analysis of estimated make-up water requirements in the cooling tower system at PT. Bhirawa Steel. The cooling tower functions to cool circulating water used in the production process to maintain the temperature stability of equipment and cooling systems. The analysis was carried out by examining cooling tower operational parameters, including inlet and outlet temperatures, wet-bulb temperature, range, approach, and cooling effectiveness. In addition, calculations were conducted on water losses occurring in the cooling tower system, such as evaporation loss, drift loss, and blowdown, to determine optimal make-up water requirements. The data were obtained through direct observation, field measurements, and relevant literature studies. The analysis results indicate that make-up water requirements are influenced by operational conditions and the characteristics of the cooling system used, therefore proper management is required to ensure efficient and sustainable cooling tower operation.
