Abstract

Company X is a company engaged in Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG), which produces beauty and personal care products. Company X produces 19 brands with various product variations. With so many product variations in Company X, it is necessary to design a very good and accurate inventory management system. The production process at Company X requires raw materials with 2 types of categories, namely liquid and powder. Materials needed are in bulk (less than packaging size) and packaging size. For materials that are in bulk form, a material weighing process is needed to suit the needs of each product, so it is necessary to go through the dispensing area (weighing area). From the results of the research on the mapping of raw material handling activities, it is known that there are still many activities classified as NVAA (Non-value added activities). In the existing condition, the percentage of NVAA reaches 51%-77% in the liquid area, 50%-53% in the powder area, 37% - 42% in the checker, 45% in the helper. So that the WMS (Warehouse Management System) is designed to monitor the availability of raw materials in the warehouse and reduce the waiting time for material retrieval from the warehouse. With this implementation, it will also help reduce stock inaccuracy and inventory loss that occurs in the dispensing area. After the system is restructured, a simulation will be carried out using the Discrete Event Simulation (DES) method using the ARENA software to be able to visualize, analyze, and evaluate the WMS design. In this simulation, it is known that it is necessary to reduce the helper and visualize it using the yamazumi chart method and the results of the ARENA hassle. In the yamazumi chart method, it is known that the NVAA percentage of each operator will decrease. The reduction in NVAA for liquid 1 operators is 23%, liquid 1 operators are 30%, liquid 3 operators are 35%, powder 1 operators are 36%, powder 2 operators are 36%, and checkers are 34%. Meanwhile, in the results of the ARENA simulation, even though the helper job was omitted, the percentage value of the checker utility was still at 0.0548 (still below 1).
