Abstract

PT. XYZ merupakan perusahaan manufaktur baja yang memproduksi berbagai jenis pipa yaitu pipa ERW, SSAW, dan stainless steel, dengan standar mutu internasional yaitu ISO 9001, API 5L, ASTM, BS, JIS, dan SNI. Proses produksi terdiri dari beberapa tahap, salah satu tahapannya adalah proses pengelasan. Produk yang telah diproduksi pada proses pengelasan harus melalui pengujian kualitas pada divisi Quality Control. Pipa S adalah salah satu produk yang masih ditemukan berbagai cacat, oleh karena itu proses pengelasan perlu dikendalikan untuk mengurangi produk cacat. Namun, perusahaan masih terbatas pada pencatatan menggunakan check sheet tanpa analisis lanjutan dan variasi proses tidak terpantau secara menyeluruh. Penerapan metode Six Sigma melalui tahapan DMAIC digunakan untuk memetakan akar masalah dan memberikan solusi berbasis data. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa level sigma proses produksi pipa S berada pada 2,07σ, menandakan proses tidak stabil dan memiliki peluang besar untuk penurunan produk cacat. Produk cacat tersebut disebabkan oleh faktor mesin yang rusak dan operator yang kurang teliti saat inspeksi. Peningkatan kualitas dapat dilakukan melalui perawatan mesin yang terjadwal, pelatihan dan pengaturan kerja operator. Usulan perbaikan ini diharapkan mampu mengurangi jumlah cacat dan meningkatkan kualitas pipa secara berkelanjutan.

PT. XYZ is a steel manufacturing company that produces various types of pipes, namely ERW, SSAW, and stainless steel pipes, with international quality standards, namely ISO 9001, API 5L, ASTM, BS, JIS, and SNI. The production process consists of several stages, one of which is the welding process. Products manufactured through the welding process must undergo quality testing in the Quality Control division. Pipe S is one product that still has various defects, therefore the welding process needs to be controlled to reduce defective products. However, the company is still limited to recording using check sheets without further analysis, and process variations are not fully monitored. The application of the Six Sigma method through the DMAIC stages is used to map the root causes and provide data-based solutions. The analysis results show that the sigma level of the S pipe production process is at 2.07σ, indicating that the process is unstable and has a high chance of reducing defective products. Defective products are caused by damaged machines and operators who are not thorough during inspections. Quality improvement can be achieved through scheduled machine maintenance, training, and operator work arrangements. These proposed improvements are expected to reduce the number of defects and improve pipe quality on an ongoing basis.
