Abstract

In this digital era, the process of education shifted from being in the classroom in a limited time to be able to learn anywhere and anytime. Digitalization, which is the conversion of information to a digital format, gives new opportunities for the teaching environment of education. One of it is hybrid teaching, in which the teaching process of both classroom learning and online learning in the same time. But one obstacle is for laboratory exercises, that frequently needed the presence of the student in the laboratory. In this bachelor’s thesis, the Author brings the practical training in the laboratories to a higher digital level. As the first step, a laboratory exercise of Energybalance on a diesel engine is digitized for the purpose of teaching and learning. An internal combustion (IC) engine, such as diesel engine, is a complex of equipment, instrumentation, and services that must work together as whole. IC engines may be thought of as a thermodynamic "open system” in which an open system is capable of exchanging energy and matter with its surroundings. This exchange of energy and also energy distribution is necessary to be understood to determine reference values for proper operation of the engine. Energy-balance, a method used to calculate the flow of energy, can be used to analyze the energy distribution. The flow of energy can be seen through the Sankey diagram, a diagram that summarise all of the energy transfers that occur in a process. The digitalization process of the laboratory exercise ‘Energy-balance on a diesel engine’ will be conducted based on MAN 6L23/30 diesel engine. A thorough calculation to determine the energy balance is necessary before bringing it into the digital format. The digitalization of the exercise will be on Labview as the visual programming language. Both the interface and also back-end programming will be developed, with the output of a program that can be used as a platform for hybrid teaching and learning.

Di era digital ini, proses pendidikan bergeser dari berada di ruang kelas dalam waktu yang terbatas menjadi bisa belajar di mana saja, kapan saja, dengan apa adanya. Digitalisasi, yaitu konversi informasi ke format digital, memberikan peluang baru bagi lingkungan pengajaran pendidikan. Salah satunya adalah hybrid teaching, dimana proses pengajaran baik pembelajaran di kelas maupun pembelajaran online dalam waktu yang bersamaan. Namun salah satu kendalanya adalah untuk praktikum di laboratorium, yang seringkali membutuhkan kehadiran mahasiswa di laboratorium. Dalam tugas akhir sarjana ini, Penulis membawa pelatihan praktis di laboratorium ke tingkat digital yang lebih tinggi. Sebagai langkah awal, praktikum kesetimbangan energi pada mesin diesel didigitalisasi untuk tujuan belajar mengajar. Mesin pembakaran internal (IC), seperti mesin diesel, adalah kompleks peralatan, instrumentasi, dan layanan yang harus bekerja sama secara keseluruhan. Mesin IC dapat dianggap sebagai "sistem terbuka" termodinamika di mana sistem terbuka mampu bertukar energi dan materi dengan sekitarnya. Pertukaran energi dan juga distribusi energi ini perlu dipahami untuk menentukan nilai referensi untuk operasi yang tepat dari mesin. Keseimbangan energi, metode yang digunakan untuk menghitung aliran energi, dapat digunakan untuk menganalisis distribusi energi. Aliran energi dapat dilihat melalui diagram Sankey, diagram yang merangkum semua transfer energi yang terjadi di sebuah proses. Proses digitalisasi latihan laboratorium 'Keseimbangan energi pada mesin diesel' akan dilakukan berdasarkan mesin diesel MAN 6L23/30. Perhitungan menyeluruh untuk menentukan keseimbangan energi diperlukan sebelum membawanya ke dalam format digital. Digitalisasi latihan akan di Labview sebagai bahasa pemrograman visual. Baik interface maupun back-end programming akan dikembangkan, dengan output berupa program yang dapat digunakan sebagai platform untuk hybrid teaching and learning.
