Abstract

The development of refrigeration technology provides benefits for humans in the process of storing and distributing food ingredients. One way of storing fishery products with cold storage at low temperatures can be fulfilled through a cascade refrigeration system which has the advantage of using a different type of refrigerant in each system and then supported by solar PV to save energy. The cooling load at the cold storage of Pelabuhan Perikanan Nusantara Prigi is ABF 22.01 kWh, Cool room 17.56 kWh, and Anteroom 1.47 kWh. In this study, combining a cascade refrigeration system with solar PV using monocrystalline panels with data from the field then simulated using PVsyst and Pack Calculation Pro. The number of panels has been adjusted to the cold storage roof area, in the planning the number of solar panels is 154 units which produce energy of 104.353 kWh. In the analysis of energy consumption, assumptions are used based on the income of marine products at Pelabuhan Perikanan Nusantara Prigi in 2017 to 2021 with an estimated daily ABF storage of 65%, 70%, and 80% of the total ABF capacity and when 2022 returns to using data from 2017, while for the cool room the estimated storage is for 1 month starting in the first to the last month is constant in 2018 to 2021, namely 40%, 60%, and 80% of the total cool room charge and when 2022 returns to using data from 2017. The cascade refrigeration system is used for cool rooms and anterooms where samples are taken at 70% ABF producing an average of 3,596.1 kWh per month while the upgraded ABF at 70% load produces an average of 4,571 kWh. Economic analysis that has been carried out on the investment in the construction of fish cold storage with a capacity of 100 Tons using an upgraded ABF system, cascade refrigeration system, and Solar PV with an investment value of IDR 1,201,150,000 produces a Net Present Value (NPV) of IDR 3,420,005,8775 and an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 57% and the Payback Period (PBP) is obtained within 2.04 years. And for a separate installation option, only a cascade system with an investment of 541,000,000 will get NPV IDR 3,129,899,233, IRR113% and PBP of 1.10 years. Meanwhile, if only the installation of solar PV with an investment of 473,500,000, NPV IDR 3,680,740,139, IRR 150% and PBP of 0.88 years
