Abstract

Fossil fuels have remained the most popular source of marine fuel. Unfortunately, the combustion of fossil fuels causes significant environmental damage. According to the review of the literature, previous research has investigated the effects of hydrogen as an alternative fuel on performance and combustion. Injection hydrogen in diesel engine could be a solution by focus of reducing diesel fuel usage and Co2 emission. Therefore, research interest concerning hydrogen injection into diesel engine has significantly increased. Experimental set up of such injection system has many complexities. Researchers struggle to include many variables in their experiments and to precisely and safely control the flow of compressed gas. As a result, this study is dedicated to design test set up that allows measurement of gas injected volume when varying valve electrical plus length and pressure conditions of the input and output. The test set up design followed ASTM B.31 design specification. Finally, safe handling guidelines are proposed.

Bahan bakar fosil merupakan sumber bahan bakar laut yang paling populer. Sayangnya, pembakaran bahan bakar fosil menyebabkan kerusakan lingkungan yang signifikan. Menurut tinjauan literatur, penelitian sebelumnya telah menyelidiki efek hidrogen sebagai bahan bakar alternatif pada kinerja dan pembakaran. Injeksi hidrogen pada mesin diesel dapat menjadi solusi dengan fokus pada pengurangan penggunaan bahan bakar solar dan emisi Co2. Oleh karena itu, minat penelitian tentang injeksi hidrogen ke dalam mesin diesel meningkat secara signifikan. Pengaturan eksperimental sistem injeksi semacam itu memiliki banyak kerumitan. Para peneliti berjuang untuk memasukkan banyak variabel dalam eksperimen mereka dan untuk secara tepat dan aman mengontrol aliran gas terkompresi. Oleh karena itu, studi ini didedikasikan untuk merancang set-up pengujian yang memungkinkan pengukuran volume gas yang diinjeksikan ketika memvariasikan panjang dan kondisi tekanan elektrik katup pada input dan output. Desain set-up pengujian mengikuti spesifikasi desain ASTM B.31. Akhirnya, pedoman penanganan yang aman diusulkan.
