Abstract

Limbah cair industri khususnya industri otomotif, elektroplating dan pertambangan biasanya mengandung Pb dengan konsentrasi tertentu yang dapat menimbulkan dampak toksik bagi makhluk hidup. Untuk itu diperlukan alternatifpengolahan secara alami dengan memanfaatkan sistem akar tanaman Typha latifolia dalam sistem lahan basah buatan. Oleh karena itu perlu dite/iti daya serap Pb oleh tanaman dengan mencari laju serapan melalui oendekatan persamaan Michaelis-Menten. Penelitian dilakukan dalam rumah tanaman dan iaboratorium dimana dilakukan variasi terhadap umur tanaman, media tanam, konsentrasi !tmbah dan intensitas penyiraman limbah. Sampling di!akukan pada tanah dan tanaman Jengan intensitas penyiraman limbah 2x ( hari ke--1), 4x (hari ke-8), 6x (hari ke-12), 8x fhari ke-16) dan iO x (hari ke-20). Parameter yang diperiksa adalah kandungan Pb pada wnah , akar, batang dan daun tanaman. Hasil pengamatan dan pemeriksaan menunjukkan bahwa laju pertumbuhan Typha latifolia rnenggunakan media tanah dan pasir untuk tanaman umur 3 bulan mengalami penurunan namun berkebalikan terhadap laju penyerapan logam Pb yang maksimum ditunjukkan dengan nilai Vmaks sebesar 22,573 mglkglhari dan Km sebesar 3,562 1/hari. Keefekt(lan penyerapan Pb oleh tanah lebih tinggi yaitu sebesar rata-rata 99 % dibandingkan tanaman. Faktor umur tanaman, konsentrasi limbah dan jenis media tanam mempengaruhi penyerapan logam pada tanaman secara signikan (P = 0, 004).

Industrial waste water, particularly automotive industry, electroplating and mining, commonly contain Pb where any particular concentration of lead could impact on human beings. Havings aid that, research on treatment alternatives by utilizing plant root system is required in constructed wetland treatment. in order to measure the utilization, if was necessary to examine absorption rate using Michaelis-Menten equation. The research was carried out in green house and laboratory where variations to plant life spans, planting media, waste concentration, and waste springkling intensity was implemented. Samplings were conducted through the soil and plants ajier the plants were watered for 2x ( day 4), 4x (day 8), 6x (day 12), 8x (day 16) and lOx (day 20). The observed parameters were contens of Pb in soil and sand, roots, rhizomes, and leaves of plants. Results of observations and examinations indicated that the growing rates of Typha lat~lolia using media of soil and sand for plants whose life spans 3 months were decreased but on the contrary the absorption rates of Pb increased as indicated by Vmax value at 22,573 mglkglday and Km at 3,562 //day. Pb absorption by soil is much higher at average 99 %. Plant life spans, waste concentrations, and planting media were the main factors which affected Pb absorption to plants. (P= 0,004).
