Abstract
Sampel batubara yang diambil dari Tambang Air Laya, Formasi Muara Enim, Cekungan Sumatera Selatan dianalisis karakteristik geokimia organiknya menggunakan metode ekstraksi, fraksinasi, dan identifikasi senyawa menggunakan instrumen kromatografi gas- spektrometer massa (KG-SM). Analisis ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui implikasi geokimia organik seperti sumber asal-usul bahan organik, tingkat kematangan termal dan lingkungan pengendapan purba. Hasil identifikasi fraksi hidrokarbon alifatik diperoleh senyawa n-alkana homolog (n-C13-n-C33), alkana bercabang pristana dan fitana, serta pentasiklik triterpana, sedangkan fraksi hidrokarbon aromatik ditemukan senyawa derivat naftalena, derivat bifenil, dan triterpenoid aromatik pentasiklik. Kelimpahan senyawa n-alkana dengan tipe distribusi bimodal menunjukkan bahan organik batubara berasal dari sumber yang bervariasi, yakni bakteri, alga, makrofita, lingkungan akuatik, dan tumbuhan tingkat tinggi. Beberapa parameter seperti CPI >1; ACL>27; OEP>1; Iso-cad/Cad <1 dan ditemukannya biomarka olean-18-ena, olean-12-ena, urs-12-ena, derivat pisena dan C31αβ 22S/(22S + 22R) <1 mengindikasikan kematangan rendah dan sumber bahan organik tumbuhan tingkat tinggi terrestrial. Nilai rasio n-C31/n-C19 <0,4; n-C29/n-C17 <1; n-C17/n-C31 >1; LHCPI >1; serta kelimpahan senyawa neohop-13(18)-ena, 17β(H),21α(H)-hopana, 17α(H)-21β(H)- homohopana (22R), dan 17α(H)-21β(H)-homohopana (22S) mengindikasikan adanya input bakteri pada proses pemendaman batubara. Nilai rasio Pr/Ph >3 menunjukkan sampel batubara AL-71 terendapkan dalam lingkungan oksik. Batubara AL-71 termasuk dalam kerogen tipe III yang mengindikasikan potensi batuan induk sebagai gas-prone dan potensial dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber coalbed methane (CBM).

Coal samples collected from the Air Laya Mine, Muara Enim Formation, and South Sumatra Basin were analyzed for their organic geochemical characteristics using extraction, fractionation, and compound identification methods using gas chromatography-mass spectrometer (GC-MS) instruments. This analysis aims to determine the implications of organic geochemistry such as the origin of organic matter, level of thermal maturity, and ancient depositional environment. The identification of aliphatic hydrocarbon fraction obtained homologous n-alkanes (n-C13-n-C33), branched alkanes pristane and phytane, and pentacyclic triterpane, while the aromatic hydrocarbon fraction found compounds containing naphthalene derivatives, biphenyl derivatives, and pentacyclic aromatic triterpenoids. The abundance of n-alkane compounds with a bimodal distribution type indicates that coal organic matter comes from various sources such as bacteria, algae, macrophytes, aquatic environments, and higher plants. Some parameters such as CPI >1; ACL >27; OEP >1; Iso- cad/Cad <1; and the abundance of olean-18-ene, olean-12-ene, urs-12-ene, picene derivatives and C31αβ 22S/(22S + 22R) <1 indicated low maturity and a source of terrestrial higher plant organic matter. The value of the ratio n-C31/n-C19 <0.4; n-C29/n-C17 <1; n-C17/n-C31 >1; LHCPI >1; and the abundance of neohop-13(18)-ene, 17β(H),21α(H)-hopane, 17α(H)- 21β(H)-homohopane (22R), and 17α(H)-21β(H)-homohopane (22S) indicates the presence of bacterial input in the coal depositional process. The value of the Pr/Ph ratio >3 indicates that the AL-71 coal sample was deposited in an oxic environment. AL-71 coal is included in type III kerogen which indicates the potential of the source rock as a gas-prone and potential to be used as a source of coalbed methane (CBM).
