Abstract
Sinyal akustik jantung dapat diperoleh dari sinyal mekanik yang dideteksi pada permukaan dada tubuh manusia. Dari sinyal akustik jantung tersebut dapat diekstrak informasi terkait kesehatan jantung berdasarkan buka-tutup katup jantung saat memompa darah. Sinyal mekanik jantung dapat ditangkap oleh phonocardiograph berbasis sensor fiber optik singlemode-multimode-singlemode (SMS). Ketika cahaya dari single-mode fiber (SMF) memasuki multi-mode fiber (MMF), cahaya tersebut tereksitasi ke mode lebih tinggi yang disebarkan sepanjang MMF dengan kecepatan yang berbeda. Mode propagasi dalam MMF sensitif pada pembengkokkan MMF. Interferensi dari luar seperti tekanan akustik dan getaran dapat memengaruhi MMF sehingga mengubah daya cahaya keluaran fiber. Perubahan daya cahaya keluaran fiber ini diukur pada ujung SMF dengan fotodetektor. Pada frekuensi 30 Hz sampai 70 Hz, yang mana merupakan frekuensi jantung normal, phonocardiograph memiliki karakteristik error rata-rata sebesar 0.29%, linieritas.

The mechanical signal of the heart can be captured by a phonocardiograph based on singlemode-multimode-singlemode (SMS) fiber optic sensor. When light from a single-mode fiber (SMF) enters a multi-mode fiber (MMF), it is excited to a higher mode which is propagated along the MMF at different speeds. The propagation mode in MMF is sensitive to MMF bending. External interference such as coustic pressure and vibration can affect the MMF thereby changing the power of light propagating in the fiber. This power change is measured by measuring the power of the light at the end of the SMF. At frequency of 30 Hz to 70 Hz, which is frequency range of normal heart sound, phonocardiograph has characteristic as follows: error of 0.29%, linearity
