Abstract

Cardiovascular Disease (CVD) is a disease related to the heart and blood vessels. Electrocardiography (ECG) is one of the most commonly used monitoring of heart activity today. Information on cardiac activity can be complemented by the seismocardiography (SCG) method as activity monitoring in terms of cardiac mechanics. ECG and SCG cannot be used continuously because of their limitations and cannot be used during the MRI process because the electromagnetic field can interfere with the readings from the two sensors. During the MRI process, it is necessary to monitor cardiac activity to prevent the patient from experiencing hyperventilation or panic symptoms during the MRI process. SMS fiber optic sensors are easy and inexpensive to manufacture and are immune to electromagnetic interference, among other benefits. The goal of this study was to develop a SCG using an SMS fiber optic sensor. The findings demonstrated that the step index multimode fiber optic sensor has a sensitivity of 0.975 and coefficient of determination (R2) of 99.99 percent. Accelerometer and electrocardiograph data have been used to validate the SMS fiber optic sensor SCG. The accuracy of SCG in determining cardiac systolic-diastolic time has been compared to the ECG at 90.89%.
