Abstract

Stunting is a condition of failure to thrive in children under five years old (toddlers) caused by chronic malnutrition and repeated infections, especially in the first 1,000 days of life (HPK), from fetus to child aged 23 months. World Bank data for 2020 shows that the prevalence of stunting in Indonesia is at 115th out of 151 countries in the world. In the 2020-2024 RPJMN, the government has targeted the stunting rate to drop to 14 percent by 2024. In addition, stunting is also one of the priorities of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Based on the 2018 Basic Health Research (Riskesdas), the stunting rate in East Java reached 26.9%, this figure is not far from the national average namely 27.67% which is still above the WHO standard of 20%. Probolinggo Regency has the highest stunting prevalence rate, which is 54.75% and Kediri City has the lowest stunting prevalence rate, which is 10.94. The average prevalence of stunting in districts/cities in East Java is around 26.85%. The best MARS model is obtained from a combination of basis functions (BF)=14 with a maximum interaction (MI)=2 and a minimum observation (MO)=1 The minimum GCV value obtained is 31.98247 with an R-sq of 72.38% and the predictor variable There are 4 models included, namely the percentage of normal birth weight (X1) with an importance level of 66.8%, the percentage of infants receiving exclusive breastfeeding (X2) with an importance level of 52.8%, the percentage of active family planning participants (X5) with the level of importance is 52.8%, and the percentage of households that have access to proper sanitation services (X7) with an importance level of 100%.
