Abstract

Health is the well-being of our soul, body, and environment. Health is a human right and is one of the factors that plays an important role in efforts to build quality human resources. To build quality human resources, development in the health sector is needed. The barometer of health development in Indonesia is the degree of health. However, the degree of health cannot be measured directly, and indicators are needed to measure the degree of health. These indicators include mortality, morbidity, and nutritional status. The factors thought to influence the degree of health are the environment, health behavior, health services, and genetics. In this study, modeling of public health degrees in Java Island will be carried out with an observation unit of 119 regencies/cities using the Structural Equation Modeling-Partial Least Square (SEM-PLS) method. The variables used in this study are latent variables of economic conditions, environment, and health access, as well as manifest variables, namely the percentage of poor people, GRDP per capita, the percentage of households with access to clean water, the percentage of households with access to proper sanitation, the percentage of outpatient population, and the percentage of births by health workers. The data used is secondary data from BPS in 2020. The results showed that economic conditions have a significant effect on the environment and the degree of public health, the environment has a significant effect on the degree of public health, and health access has a significant effect on the degree of public health. The resulting SEM-PLS model has an R-square value of 0.676, which means that 67.6% of the variation in the degree of public health on Java Island can be explained by the variables of economic conditions, environment, and health access.
