Abstract

Banyak mahasiswa menghadapi tantangan akademik yang berpotensi menyebabkan keterlambatan kelulusan hingga risiko putus studi (drop out).

Many university students face academic challenges that may lead to delayed graduation or even student attrition (dropout). However, study programs often encounter difficulties in identifying at-risk students at an early stage due to the lack of integrated data analysis tools. This research aims to develop the Student Academic Risk Management System, a Decision Support System (DSS) designed to support proactive academic decision-making.
The system was developed using the Laravel framework, the Blade templating engine, and a MySQL database. The implemented risk classification algorithm is based on an adaptation of the Critical Ratio concept, defined as the ratio between the remaining credit units required for graduation and the remaining active semesters, combined with relative decile-based grouping within each student cohort. The platform provides three integrated interfaces: a Student Dashboard for self-monitoring, an Academic Advisor Dashboard for recording academic guidance intervention logs, and a Head of Study Program Dashboard for monitoring the strategic distribution of academic risk across the study program. Functional testing was conducted using the Black Box Testing method on all core system modules. The results indicate that all functional features performed as expected, achieving a 100% pass rate across 17 test cases. In conclusion, the proposed system successfully provides a contextual, transparent, and equitable academic risk classification mechanism, thereby facilitating early identification of at-risk students and enabling more targeted academic interventions to minimize student dropout rates.
