Abstract
Magang industri merupakan salah satu bentuk implementasi pembelajaran yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi mahasiswa melalui penerapan ilmu yang diperoleh selama perkuliahan ke dalam dunia kerja. Kegiatan magang ini dilaksanakan di PT Boma Bisma Indra (Persero), Departemen Engineering, dengan tugas khusus mengenai penerapan sistem pelapisan anti korosi (painting) pada silo tank. Tujuan penyusunan laporan ini adalah untuk memahami tahapan proses painting, fungsi setiap lapisan pelindung, serta metode inspeksi yang diterapkan untuk menjamin kualitas pelapisan sesuai spesifikasi teknis dan standar perusahaan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penyusunan laporan meliputi studi literatur, observasi lapangan, dokumentasi, wawancara dengan pembimbing lapangan, serta analisis terhadap data yang diperoleh selama kegiatan magang. Observasi dilakukan pada setiap tahapan proses, mulai dari persiapan permukaan (surface preparation), inspeksi kebersihan permukaan, aplikasi lapisan primer, intermediate coat, dan finish coat, hingga pengujian ketebalan lapisan kering (Dry Film Thickness/DFT) dan inspeksi visual. Hasil kegiatan magang menunjukkan bahwa sistem painting memiliki peranan yang sangat penting dalam melindungi permukaan baja silo tank dari korosi, meningkatkan umur pakai peralatan, serta mempertahankan kualitas produk selama masa operasional. Keberhasilan proses pelapisan dipengaruhi oleh kualitas persiapan permukaan, pemilihan jenis coating, kondisi lingkungan selama aplikasi, serta pengendalian mutu melalui inspeksi pada setiap tahapan proses. Melalui kegiatan magang ini, mahasiswa memperoleh pengalaman praktis mengenai penerapan ilmu teknik mesin dalam proses manufaktur, khususnya pada pengendalian kualitas dan perlindungan material melalui sistem pelapisan anti korosi di industri.

Industrial internship is an experiential learning program designed to enhance students' competencies by applying academic knowledge in an industrial environment. This internship was conducted at PT Boma Bisma Indra (Persero), Engineering Department, with a special focus on the implementation of an anti-corrosion coating (painting) system for silo tank fabrication. The objective of this report is to understand the painting process, the function of each protective coating layer, and the inspection methods applied to ensure coating quality in accordance with technical specifications and company standards. The report was prepared using literature review, field observations, documentation, interviews with field supervisors, and analysis of data collected during the internship. Observations covered every stage of the painting process, including surface preparation, surface cleanliness inspection, application of primer, intermediate coat, and finish coat, followed by Dry Film Thickness (DFT) measurement and visual inspection. The internship results indicate that the painting system plays a significant role in protecting the steel surface of silo tanks against corrosion, extending equipment service life, and maintaining product quality throughout its operational period. The effectiveness of the coating system is influenced by proper surface preparation, appropriate coating material selection, environmental conditions during application, and quality control through inspections at every stage of the process. This internship provided valuable practical experience in applying mechanical engineering principles to manufacturing processes, particularly in quality control and material protection through industrial anti-corrosion coating systems, while strengthening the understanding of industrial work procedures and professional standards.
