Abstract
Laporan magang industri ini membahas pemanfaatan sensor untuk deteksi dini overflow dan pengendalian pompa otomatis pada tangki nira di PT Rajawali I Unit PG Rejo Agung Baru, Madiun. Permasalahan utama yang diidentifikasi di lapangan adalah sering terjadinya overflow atau luapan pada tangki nira mentah akibat ketidakseimbangan antara daya hisap pompa dengan aliran nira dari stasiun gilingan, serta sistem yang masih bergantung pada pengendalian manual oleh operator. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah merancang sistem otomasi pengendalian pompa untuk mencegah luapan nira, meminimalkan gangguan produksi, dan mengurangi ketergantungan pada operator secara langsung. Metode penyelesaian masalah yang digunakan adalah perancangan prototipe sistem kontrol otomatis berbasis mikrokontroler Arduino UNO, menggunakan sensor ultrasonik HC-SR04 untuk mendeteksi ketinggian cairan, serta motor driver L298N. Selain prototipe, rencana implementasi pada skala industri juga diusulkan dengan menggunakan PLC dan sensor level cairan industri (seperti sensor konduktif atau ultrasonik industri) yang lebih tahan terhadap kondisi pabrik. Hasil pengujian prototipe menunjukkan bahwa sistem berhasil membaca level nira dengan responsif dan mengendalikan hidup-matinya pompa secara otomatis tanpa intervensi manual. Inovasi otomasi ini disimpulkan dapat menjadi solusi teknis yang efektif dalam mencegah terjadinya overflow, menjaga kestabilan proses pengolahan gula, dan meningkatkan efisiensi kerja di pabrik.

This industrial internship report discusses the utilization of sensors for early detection of overflow and automatic pump control in the juice tank at PT Rajawali I Unit PG Rejo Agung Baru, Madiun. The main problem identified in the field was the frequent occurrence of overflow in the raw juice tank due to the imbalance between the pump's suction power and the juice flow from the milling station, as well as the system's reliance on manual control by operators. The objective of this research is to design an automated pump control system to prevent juice overflow, minimize production disruptions, and reduce direct reliance on manual operators. The problem-solving method used is the design of an automatic control system prototype based on an Arduino UNO microcontroller, utilizing an HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor to detect the liquid level, and an L298N motor driver. In addition to the prototype, an industrial-scale implementation plan was also formulated by proposing the use of a PLC and an industrial liquid level sensor (such as a conductive or industrial ultrasonic sensor) which are more robust for factory conditions. The prototype testing results showed that the system successfully and responsively read the juice level and automatically controlled the pump's on/off state without manual intervention. It is concluded that this automation innovation can serve as an effective technical solution to prevent overflow, maintain the stability of the sugar processing, and improve overall work efficiency in the factory.
