Abstract
Boiler Feed Water Pump (BFWP) merupakan komponen vital dalam sistem PLTU yang berfungsi memasok air umpan ke boiler, sehingga keandalan operasionalnya sangat menentukan kestabilan dan keselamatan sistem pembangkit secara keseluruhan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis proses operasional dan pemeliharaan BFWP pada tahap start-up dan shutdown di PLTU Paiton Unit 5. Analisis dilakukan dengan mengkaji prosedur operasional standar serta praktik pemeliharaan yang diterapkan pada unit tersebut. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa prosedur start-up dan shutdown yang terstruktur berperan penting dalam menjaga keandalan sistem dan keselamatan operasional, di mana ketidaksesuaian prosedur berpotensi menimbulkan kerusakan mekanis hingga kegagalan unit. Tahapan start-up meliputi pengecekan posisi katup, kondisi pelumasan, pemanasan awal, serta pemantauan parameter suhu dan tekanan, dengan ketentuan pompa tidak boleh dioperasikan dalam kondisi kering. Pada proses shutdown, BFWP tetap dioperasikan untuk menjaga kestabilan level air drum dan mendukung pendinginan boiler, dan hanya dimatikan setelah unit benar-benar dalam kondisi shutdown total. Selanjutnya, pada kondisi cold shutdown diterapkan konservasi sistem pompa dan pelumasan serta rotasi periodik pompa guna mencegah keausan statis dan mempertahankan performa pompa selama idle dalam jangka panjang. Selain itu, sistem interlock dan proteksi terbukti berperan penting dalam mencegah kegagalan mendadak akibat parameter tekanan, suhu, dan getaran yang tidak normal. Dengan demikian, penerapan prosedur operasional dan pemeliharaan yang tepat pada BFWP sangat diperlukan untuk menjamin keandalan dan keselamatan operasional PLTU secara berkelanjutan.

Boiler Feed Water Pump (BFWP) is a vital component in a power plant system that functions to supply feed water to the boiler, so its operational reliability greatly determines the stability and safety of the overall power generation system. This study aims to analyze the operational and maintenance processes of the BFWP during the start-up and shutdown stages at PLTU Paiton Unit 5. The analysis was conducted by examining standard operating procedures as well as the maintenance practices applied at the unit. The results show that structured start-up and shutdown procedures play an important role in maintaining system reliability and operational safety, where procedural non-compliance has the potential to cause mechanical damage and even unit failure. The start-up stage includes checking valve positions, lubrication conditions, and preheating, as well as monitoring temperature and pressure parameters, with the requirement that the pump must not be operated under dry conditions. During the shutdown process, the BFWP continues to operate to maintain drum water level stability and support boiler cooling, and is only switched off after the unit is completely in a total shutdown condition. Furthermore, under cold shutdown conditions, pump and lubrication system conservation is carried out along with periodic pump rotation to prevent static wear and to maintain pump performance during long-term idle periods. In addition, the interlock and protection systems have proven to play an important role in preventing sudden failure caused by abnormal pressure, temperature, and vibration parameters. Thus, the proper implementation of operational and maintenance procedures for the BFWP is essential to ensure the sustainable reliability and operational safety of the power plant.
