Abstract
PT Semen Bosowa Banyuwangi merupakan pabrik semen semi-integrated yang memproduksi Portland Composite Cement (PCC) melalui proses finish grinding menggunakan Vertical Cement Mill (VCM) dengan bahan baku utama berupa clinker yang dipasok dari plant eksternal. Pada sistem ini, pengendalian mutu produk menjadi aspek penting, khususnya terhadap parameter free CaO, karena berpengaruh terhadap kualitas semen dan dipengaruhi oleh kualitas clinker maupun kondisi operasi selama proses grinding. Kegiatan magang ini bertujuan menganalisis faktor penyebab ketidakstabilan kadar free CaO pada semen PCC serta memberikan rekomendasi pengendalian proses untuk meningkatkan konsistensi mutu produk. Metode yang digunakan meliputi observasi lapangan, studi literatur, analisis data operasional perusahaan, pendekatan fishbone diagram, serta analisis hubungan antara free CaO clinker, moisture material, kehalusan semen (Blaine), dan free CaO semen menggunakan data harian maupun interval per jam. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa ketidakstabilan free CaO semen merupakan fenomena multifaktorial. Variasi kualitas free CaO clinker menjadi faktor material utama, sedangkan moisture material dan kehalusan semen (Blaine) berperan sebagai faktor proses yang memoderasi hubungan antara free CaO clinker dan free CaO semen sehingga hubungan keduanya tidak selalu bersifat linier. Moisture yang tinggi berpotensi menyebabkan hidrasi parsial CaO menjadi Ca(OH)₂ dan menurunkan efisiensi grinding, sedangkan perubahan kehalusan semen memengaruhi luas permukaan reaktif partikel sehingga turut memengaruhi stabilitas free CaO. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, direkomendasikan pengendalian proses grinding secara terintegrasi melalui pengendalian kualitas clinker, pengurangan moisture material menggunakan sistem pre-heating, serta pemantauan parameter proses secara berkala untuk meningkatkan stabilitas free CaO dan menjaga kualitas semen PCC.

PT Semen Bosowa Banyuwangi is a semi-integrated cement plant that produces Portland Composite Cement (PCC) through a finish grinding process using a Vertical Cement Mill (VCM), with clinker supplied from an external production plant as the primary raw material. In this production system, product quality control is essential, particularly the monitoring of free CaO, as it significantly affects cement quality and is influenced by both clinker quality and grinding process conditions. This internship aimed to analyze the factors causing the instability of free CaO content in PCC and to propose process control recommendations for improving product quality consistency. The study was conducted through field observations, literature review, operational data analysis, fishbone diagram analysis, and evaluation of the relationship between clinker free CaO, material moisture content, cement fineness (Blaine), and cement free CaO using both daily and hourly operational data. The results indicate that the instability of cement free CaO is a multifactorial phenomenon. Variations in clinker free CaO were identified as the primary material-related factor, while material moisture content and cement fineness (Blaine) acted as process variables that moderated the relationship between clinker free CaO and cement free CaO, resulting in a non-linear correlation. High moisture content promotes the partial hydration of CaO into Ca(OH)₂, reducing grinding efficiency, whereas changes in cement fineness alter the reactive surface area of particles, thereby affecting the stability of free CaO. Based on these findings, an integrated grinding process control strategy is recommended, including clinker quality control, moisture reduction through a pre-heating system, and continuous process monitoring to improve free CaO stability and maintain the quality of Portland Composite Cement.
