Abstract
Magang industri dilaksanakan di Departemen Produksi IIB PT Petrokimia Gresik sebagai sarana penerapan ilmu Teknik Kimia Industri serta pemahaman terhadap proses produksi pupuk NPK Phonska, sistem utilitas, pengendalian mutu, dan penerapan keselamatan kerja. Selama kegiatan magang, dilakukan observasi proses produksi, pengumpulan data operasi, serta penyelesaian tugas khusus berupa evaluasi kinerja sistem agitasi pada Tangki Pre-Neutralizer Unit Phonska IV yang mengalami penurunan kecepatan putar. Analisis dilakukan berdasarkan parameter Reynolds Number, Power per Volume (P/V), dan tip speed untuk menilai efektivitas proses pencampuran. Hasil evaluasi menunjukkan bahwa kondisi operasi eksisting memiliki Reynolds Number sebesar 8.170 sehingga berada pada daerah transisi, sedangkan sebelum turn around sebesar 13.099 yang telah mencapai kondisi turbulen. Nilai P/V pada kondisi eksisting sebesar 0,03 kW/m³ juga berada di bawah kisaran rekomendasi untuk pencampuran slurry, sehingga menunjukkan energi pengadukan yang tidak mencukupi. Penurunan performa tersebut berpotensi menyebabkan pencampuran tidak homogen, terbentuknya dead zone, dan menurunkan kualitas slurry. Berdasarkan hasil analisis, peningkatan kecepatan putar agitator hingga mendekati kondisi sebelum turn around direkomendasikan untuk mengembalikan karakteristik aliran turbulen dan meningkatkan efektivitas proses pencampuran. Kegiatan magang ini memberikan pengalaman praktis mengenai proses industri pupuk serta kemampuan analisis dan penyelesaian permasalahan proses di lingkungan industri.

The industrial internship was conducted at the Production IIB Department of PT Petrokimia Gresik to apply Industrial Chemical Engineering knowledge and gain practical understanding of NPK Phonska fertilizer production, utility systems, quality control, and occupational safety practices. During the internship, production processes were observed, operational data were collected, and a special project was carried out to evaluate the performance of the agitation system in the Pre-Neutralizer Tank of the Phonska IV Unit, where a reduction in agitator rotational speed had occurred. The evaluation was performed using Reynolds Number, Power per Volume (P/V), and tip speed as indicators of mixing performance. The results showed that the existing operating condition had a Reynolds Number of 8,170, indicating a transitional flow regime, whereas the pre-turnaround condition reached 13,099, corresponding to turbulent flow. The existing P/V value of 0.03 kW/m³ was also below the recommended range for slurry mixing, indicating insufficient mixing energy. This performance degradation may lead to poor mixing uniformity, dead zone formation, and reduced slurry quality. Based on the analysis, increasing the agitator rotational speed to approach the pre-turnaround condition is recommended to restore turbulent flow characteristics and improve mixing effectiveness. This internship enhanced practical knowledge of fertilizer manufacturing processes and strengthened problem-solving and engineering analysis skills in an industrial environment.
