Abstract

The former Keputih Landfill in Sukolilo, Surabaya, which has been closed since 2001 and rehabilitated into a public green space, still has the potential to contain residual leachate beneath the surface. This study aims to identify the distribution of Self-Potential (SP) values, the distribution pattern of residual leachate, and the characteristics of its anomalies. Measurements were carried out using the Fixed-Base configuration along six survey lines with a total of 276 observation points. The data were processed through data correction, filtering using Complete Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition with Adaptive Noise (CEEMDAN), isopotential mapping, and inversion using the Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA). The interpretation results were validated using Electrical Conductivity (EC), pH, iron (Fe) concentration, as well as secondary data on BOD₅, COD, and TSS. The results showed that the Self-Potential values ranged from −3.10 mV to 18.13 mV. The distribution of residual leachate tended to be localized in the Taman Harmoni area, with anomaly sources located at depths of approximately 8–17 m. The validation results showed that the Fe concentrations in two residential wells exceeded the water quality standard, reaching 2.79 mg/L and 1.80 mg/L, thereby supporting the Self-Potential interpretation results. This study shows that the Self-Potential method combined with CEEMDAN and Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA) inversion is capable of identifying the distribution of residual leachate in the rehabilitated former Keputih Landfill effectively and non-destructively.
