Abstract

This research designed and implemented a real-time electrical energy consumption monitoring system on a 1.1 kW three-phase induction motor as a flywheel drive integrated with a 3.5 kW Permanent Magnet Generator (PMG). Electrical parameters such as voltage, current, power, and energy are measured using a FORT FCN300 Power Meter, which has high accuracy and is integrated with a Siemens S7-1200 PLC via Modbus RTU communication. The parameter readings are sent to an IoT platform in the form of a web server using MQTT communication and a MySQL database. Test results show a linear relationship between load and electrical parameters, such as output voltage decreasing as the load increases, input current and power increase to 2.08 A and 0.44 kW at full load, energy consumption reaches 2.71 kWh in 6 hours of operation with a monthly cost of up to IDR 460,328, and optimal power efficiency of 45–48% at a load of 3–3.75 kW and a frequency of 30–50 Hz. The developed monitoring system has been proven capable of accurately detecting electrical parameters, analyzing the effects of current surges and load variations on energy consumption and operational costs.
