Abstract
Home Industry penghasil keripik singkong saat ini masih banyak menggunakan metoda potong yang sederhana, yaitu dengan menggunakan alat potong manual, sehingga memerlukan banyak tenaga dan waktu yang cukup lama. Salah satu alternatif untuk menambah efisiensi dan produktifitas yaitu dengan membuat mesin potong dengan metode reciprocating. Pembuatan mesin potong ini dimulai dari merancang mekanisme penggerak pisau. Perhitungan dimulai dengan mencari besarnya gaya pada elemen-elemen mesin yang digunakan (poros, pasak, belt, pulley), besarnya daya motor yang digunakan, dan besarnya kapasitas yang dihasilkan oleh mesin potong. Setelah pembuatan mesin, mencari besarnya gaya potong yang terdapat pada singkong (melalui percobaan) dan dilakukan pengujian mengenai kapasitas sesungguhnya yang dapat dihasilkan oleh mesin potong. Dari percobaan didapatkan gaya potong singkong rata-rata sebesar 9 kgf. Penggerak menggunakan motor sebesar 0,5 HP dihasilkan putaran disk 126 rpm. Kapasitas yang dihasilkan sebesar 55 kg/jam (untuk singkong 6mm dengan tebal 1,5mm).

Home industry flaky cassava producer at this moment still use simple slice method, which is by use manual cutter, so require a lot of energy and long time. One of alternative to add efficiency and productivity which is make cutting machine by reciprocating method. This cutting machine makings is began from design knife drive mechanism. Count began by looks for the large of force at machine elements used (shaft, pin, belt, pulley), the large of motor power, and resulting capacity by cutting machine. After making machine, look for the large of cutting force at cassava via attempt and do testing about result the real capacity by cutting machine. From test was gotten cassava cutting force rate as big as 9 kgf. Drive utilizes motor as big as 0,5 HP were resulted circle disk 126 rpm. Resulting capacity by machine as big as 55 kg/hours (for cassava 6mm with thick 1,5 mm).
