Abstract
Magang di PT Petrocentral bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi mahasiswa melalui penerapan ilmu Teknik Kimia Industri secara langsung di lingkungan industri, khususnya pada proses produksi Sodium Tripolyphosphate (STPP). Kegiatan ini meliputi pengamatan proses produksi, analisis peralatan proses, penyusunan Process Flow Diagram (PFD), Pipeline and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID), perhitungan neraca massa dan neraca energi, serta analisis keselamatan menggunakan metode Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP). Proses produksi STPP terdiri atas tiga unit utama, yaitu pretreatment, purifikasi, dan sintesis STPP. Pada tahap pretreatment dilakukan peningkatan kadar P₂O₅ asam fosfat melalui penurunan kandungan sulfat dan fluor. Tahap purifikasi menggunakan ekstraksi cair-cair dengan campuran pelarut di-isopropyl ether dan tributyl phosphate untuk menghilangkan pengotor logam, sedangkan tahap sintesis meliputi netralisasi, pengeringan menggunakan spray dryer, kalsinasi, pendinginan, dan pengemasan produk. Selain mempelajari proses produksi, dilakukan pula evaluasi terhadap sistem utilitas, pengendalian mutu, pengolahan limbah, dan penerapan keselamatan, kesehatan kerja, serta lingkungan (K3L). Hasil magang menunjukkan bahwa PT Petrocentral menerapkan proses produksi yang terintegrasi dengan sistem pengendalian kualitas dan keselamatan yang baik sehingga mampu menghasilkan STPP sesuai spesifikasi. Kegiatan ini memberikan pemahaman mengenai penerapan konsep teknik kimia di industri serta meningkatkan kemampuan analisis proses, perancangan sistem, dan identifikasi potensi bahaya sebagai bekal dalam menghadapi dunia kerja.

The industrial internship at PT Petrocentral aimed to enhance students' competencies through the practical application of Industrial Chemical Engineering principles, particularly in the production process of Sodium Tripolyphosphate (STPP). The activities included observation of production operations, process equipment analysis, preparation of Process Flow Diagrams (PFD) and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID), mass and energy balance calculations, and process safety evaluation using the Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP) method. The STPP production process consists of three main stages: pretreatment, purification, and STPP synthesis. During pretreatment, the phosphoric acid concentration was increased by reducing sulfate and fluoride impurities. The purification stage employed liquid-liquid extraction using a mixture of di-isopropyl ether and tributyl phosphate solvents to remove metallic impurities. The synthesis stage comprised neutralization, spray drying, calcination, cooling, and product packaging. In addition to production processes, the internship also involved evaluating utility systems, quality control, wastewater treatment, and the implementation of occupational health, safety, and environmental (HSE) management. The results demonstrated that PT Petrocentral operates an integrated production system supported by effective quality assurance and safety management, enabling the production of STPP that meets industrial specifications. Overall, the internship provided valuable insights into the practical implementation of chemical engineering principles while improving analytical, process design, and hazard identification skills required in the chemical industry.
