Abstract
Revegetasi pada tanah kritis merupakan salah satu upaya penting dalam rehabilitasi lahan yang mengalami degradasi, baik akibat faktor alami maupun aktivitas manusia. Tanah kritis umumnya ditandai dengan rendahnya kesuburan, kandungan bahan organik yang minim, serta rusaknya struktur tanah sehingga tidak mampu mendukung pertumbuhan tanaman secara optimal. Melalui revegetasi, kondisi tanah dapat diperbaiki secara bertahap karena vegetasi yang ditanam mampu meningkatkan kandungan bahan organik, memperbaiki struktur tanah, serta meningkatkan aktivitas mikroorganisme tanah. Selain itu, revegetasi juga berperan dalam mengurangi erosi dan meningkatkan kestabilan ekosistem, sehingga menjadi salah satu metode yang efektif dalam pemulihan lahan kritis. Tujuan dari dibuatnya studi literatur ini, yaitu untuk mengkaji berbagai literatur yang berkaitan dengan revegetasi tanah kritis, seperti sifat fisik, kimia, dan biologis tanah kritis, dan mengkaji berbagai literatur yang berkaitan dengan tumbuhan yang dapat digunakan pada proses revegetasi. Metode studi yang digunakan adalah dengan menyusun kajian pustaka yang merupakan kumpulan berbagai literatur terkait. Literatur yang digunakan berasal dari jurnal ilmiah, buku, serta laporan penelitian yang relevan dengan topik revegetasi tanah kritis. Data yang diperoleh kemudian dianalisis secara deskriptif untuk menghasilkan pemahaman yang komprehensif mengenai peran revegetasi dalam pemulihan tanah kritis. Hasil kajian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi dalam pengembangan strategi rehabilitasi lahan, khususnya pada lahan pertanian yang mengalami degradasi. Berdasarkan hasil studi literatur dan pengkajian contoh kasus di Kecamatan Playen, Kabupaten Gunungkidul, Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta, revegetasi tanah kritis dengan memanfaatkan tanaman pangan, khususnya jagung (Zea mays L.), kedelai (Glycine max L.), dan kacang tanah (Arachis hypogaea L.), menunjukkan potensi yang baik sebagai upaya rehabilitasi lahan secara berkelanjutan. Kondisi lahan kering di Kecamatan Playen yang ditandai oleh rendahnya kandungan bahan organik, keterbatasan kemampuan menahan air, dan tingginya kerentanan terhadap erosi dapat diperbaiki secara bertahap melalui penanaman tanaman pangan yang mampu meningkatkan tutupan vegetasi, menambah bahan organik tanah, memperbaiki struktur dan aktivitas biologis tanah, serta meningkatkan ketersediaan unsur hara, terutama nitrogen pada tanaman legum. Selain memberikan manfaat ekologis dalam pemulihan kualitas lahan terdegradasi, pemanfaatan tanaman pangan juga memberikan nilai ekonomi melalui hasil panen yang dapat mendukung pendapatan masyarakat dan ketahanan pangan. Dengan demikian, revegetasi tanah kritis menggunakan tanaman pangan di Kecamatan Playen dapat menjadi alternatif strategi rehabilitasi lahan yang efektif, produktif, dan berkelanjutan karena mengintegrasikan aspek lingkungan dan sosial-ekonomi secara simultan.

Revegetation on degraded land is an important effort in the rehabilitation of land that has experienced degradation, whether due to natural factors or human activities. Degraded land is generally characterized by low fertility, minimal organic matter content, and damaged soil structure, making it unable to support optimal plant growth. Through revegetation, soil conditions can be gradually improved because the planted vegetation can increase organic matter content, improve soil structure, and enhance the activity of soil microorganisms. In addition, revegetation also plays a role in reducing erosion and improving ecosystem stability, making it an effective method for restoring degraded land. The purpose of this literature study is to examine various references related to revegetation of degraded land, including the physical, chemical, and biological properties of degraded soils, as well as to review different plant species that can be used in the revegetation process. The study method used is a literature review compiled from various relevant sources. The literature includes scientific journals, books, and research reports related to the topic of revegetation of degraded land. The data obtained are then analyzed descriptively to provide a comprehensive understanding of the role of revegetation in restoring degraded soils. The results of this study are expected to serve as a reference for developing land rehabilitation strategies, particularly for agricultural land that has undergone degradation. Based on the results of the literature review and the case study conducted in Playen District, Gunungkidul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta, the revegetation of degraded land using food crops, particularly maize (Zea mays L.), soybean (Glycine max L.), and peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.), demonstrates considerable potential as a sustainable land rehabilitation strategy. The dryland conditions in Playen District, characterized by low organic matter content, limited water-holding capacity, and high susceptibility to erosion, can be gradually improved through the cultivation of food crops that enhance vegetation cover, increase soil organic matter, improve soil structure and biological activity, and increase nutrient availability, particularly nitrogen through leguminous plants. In addition to providing ecological benefits in restoring degraded land quality, the utilization of food crops also generates economic value through agricultural production, thereby supporting community livelihoods and food security. Therefore, the revegetation of degraded land using food crops in Playen District can be considered an effective, productive, and sustainable land rehabilitation strategy because it simultaneously integrates environmental restoration and socio-economic benefits.
