Abstract
Kualitas sambungan las pada industri perkeretaapian memiliki peranan penting, khususnya pada komponen center sill yang menerima beban tarik dan tekan. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis pengaruh variasi heat input dan bentuk kampuh pada proses Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) terhadap sifat mekanik dan struktur mikro sambungan las JIS G3101 SS400 untuk aplikasi center sill. Material yang digunakan berupa pelat baja SS400 tebal 12 mm dengan butt joint dan dua variasi kampuh, yaitu single bevel groove dan single V groove. Variasi heat input yang digunakan adalah 0.096; 0.1642; dan 0.2613 kJ/mm. Proses pengelasan dilakukan menggunakan gas pelindung campuran Argon 82% dan CO₂ 18% serta kawat elektroda ER80S-G berdiameter 1,2 mm. Pengujian hasil las dilakukan melalui pengamatan struktur mikro setelah etsa Nital pada daerah weld metal, heat affected zone (HAZ), dan base metal, uji kekerasan Vickers mengacu pada ASTM E92, dan Uji tarik mengacu pada AWS D1.1. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan struktur mikro base metal didominasi ferrite dan pearlite, sedangkan daerah HAZ dan weld metal mengalami perubahan struktur akibat siklus termal pengelasan, meliputi ferrite, pearlite, acicular ferrite, polygonal ferrite, allotriomorphic ferrite, dan Widmanstätten ferrite. Nilai kekerasan tertinggi terdapat pada daerah weld metal, diikuti HAZ dan base metal. Hasil uji tarik menunjukkan bahwa kampuh single V menghasilkan sifat mekanik yang lebih baik dibandingkan single bevel.

The The quality of weld joints in the railway industry has an important role, especially in center sill components that receive tensile and compressive loads. This study aims to analyze the effect of heat input variations and kampuh shapes in the Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW) process on the mechanical properties and microstructure of JIS G3101 SS400 welding joints for center sill applications. The material used is in the form of a 12 mm thick SS400 steel plate with a butt joint and two variations of the blade, namely single bevel and single V. The heat input variation used is 0.096; 0.1642; and 0.2613 kJ/mm. The welding process was carried out using a mixed shielding gas of 82% Argon and 18% CO₂ and a 1.2 mm diameter ER80S-G electrode wire. Weld testing was conducted through microstructural examination following Nital etching of the weld metal, heat affected zone (HAZ), and base metal; Vickers hardness testing in accordance with ASTM E92; and tensile testing in accordance with AWS D1.1. The results showed that the microstructure of the base metal was dominated by ferrite and pearlite, while the HAZ and weld metal areas underwent structural changes due to the thermal cycle of welding, including ferrite, pearlite, acicular ferrite, polygonal ferrite, allotriomorphic ferrite, and Widmanstätten ferrite. The highest hardness value was found in the weld metal area, followed by HAZ and base metal. The tensile test results showed that the single V bevel produced better mechanical properties than the single bevel.
