Abstract

Program magang di Petrosida Gresik bertujuan meningkatkan kompetensi mahasiswa dalam memahami proses industri kimia, khususnya produksi insektisida Sidamethrin 50 EC. Kegiatan meliputi pengenalan proses produksi, pengendalian kualitas, pengelolaan limbah, penerapan keselamatan dan kesehatan kerja (K3), serta penyusunan Process Flow Diagram (PFD), Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID), neraca massa, neraca energi, dan identifikasi HAZOP. Selain itu, dilakukan troubleshooting terhadap kehilangan pelarut akibat evaporasi pada proses pencampuran dengan membandingkan karakteristik p-xylene, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), dan octyldecyl dimethyl amide. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan pelarut dengan tekanan uap lebih rendah dan titik didih lebih tinggi mampu menurunkan laju evaporasi sehingga meningkatkan efisiensi proses dan mengurangi kehilangan bahan baku. Kegiatan magang ini memberikan pengalaman praktis dalam penerapan prinsip rekayasa kimia untuk mendukung optimasi proses industri.

The internship at Petrosida Gresik was conducted to enhance students' understanding of chemical industrial processes, particularly the production of Sidamethrin 50 EC insecticide. The activities included production process observation, quality control, waste management, occupational health and safety (OHS) implementation, and the preparation of a Process Flow Diagram (PFD), Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID), material balance, energy balance, and HAZOP analysis. A troubleshooting study was also carried out to investigate solvent loss caused by evaporation during the mixing process by comparing the characteristics of p-xylene, dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), and octyldecyl dimethyl amide. The results showed that solvents with lower vapor pressure and higher boiling points effectively reduced the evaporation rate, thereby improving process efficiency and minimizing raw material losses. Overall, the internship provided practical experience in applying chemical engineering principles to support industrial process optimization.
