Abstract

Generation Z's interest in cultural heritage history particularly the history of the Wali Songo, such as Sunan Drajat has been declining due to conventional teaching methods that are perceived as unengaging and the physical distance to historical sites. As the dominant demographic in Indonesia and digital natives, Generation Z is more familiar with visual immersive, and short-form digital media. This project aims to address these challenges by designing a series of educational 360 video-based virtual tours for Generation Z, distributed via the YouTube platform. The design methods employed include literature review, target audience research via questionnaires, in-depth interviews with site managers, and field observations. The production process adopts the Multimedia Development Life Cycle (MDLC) framework. To enhance appeal for the Generation Z target audiencee, the project integrates the guide character Kak Anisa, designed in a stylized character illustration style. Testing methods involving 15 respondents used the Likert and Guttman scales; this media was rated highly suitable with a score of 80.3% (Good). These results indicate that respondents were interested in concept of a series of virtual tours based on 360 video after watching the video, and that it significantly improved their understanding of historical information.
