Abstract

Soil contamination by total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) in the Wonocolo traditional oil mining area, Bojonegoro, represents a significant environmental issue that requires effective and sustainable remediation. This study aimed to analyze the effects of adding silica sand (SiO₂) and blood clam (*Anadara granosa*) shells as a CaCO₃ source on the efficiency of TPH removal during the incineration of oil-contaminated soil, as well as their effects on Pb reduction and the emission of SOₓ and NOₓ gases. The study employed an *ex situ* incineration method using a control treatment (1:0:0) and two treatment variations (1:1:1 and 1:1:2) with incineration times of 30, 45, and 60 minutes. TPH concentrations were analyzed using the ultrasonic extraction method, Pb concentrations were determined using inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES), and gas emissions were monitored in real time using a gas analyzer. The results showed that the highest TPH removal efficiency was achieved in the 1:1:1 treatment after 60 minutes of incineration, reaching 99.69% with a residual TPH concentration of 2.55 mg/kg. The greatest improvement in TPH removal compared with the control was observed in the 1:1:2 treatment after 45 minutes, with a removal efficiency of 93.94%. Emission analysis indicated that NOₓ concentrations in all treatments remained below the applicable emission standards, whereas SOₓ and CO concentrations exceeded the permissible limits at several measurement points. These findings demonstrate that the addition of SiO₂ and CaCO₃ enhances the performance of the incineration process for remediating petroleum-contaminated soil. However, further research is required to optimize the process and minimize gas emissions to ensure safer and more environmentally sustainable operation.
