Abstract

The magnetic method was used in this study to identify the distribution of leachate in the Ngipik Landfill area, Gresik Regency. Data acquisition was conducted along six transects with a 5-meter spacing between points using the daily variation method with a base station looping system. The measured data were corrected using the International Geomagnetic Reference Field (IGRF) correction and daily corrections to obtain total magnetic field anomalies, which were then separated into regional and local anomalies using upward continuation at an optimal height of 150 meters. Qualitative interpretation was performed using Reduction to Pole (RTP), Horizontal Gradient, Vertical Gradient, and Analytical Signal methods, while quantitative interpretation was conducted using the Flower Pollination Algorithm (FPA) inversion on two selected sections. The interpretation results indicate that the magnetic anomaly, distribution direction estimated to extend from the south toward the north. The inversion results indicate the presence of two anomaly sources in each cross-section, with depths ranging from 4 to 10.5 meters below the surface. These interpretation results are supported by leachate laboratory test results, which show that samples at the wastewater treatment plant (IPAL) inlet still contain organic matter and dissolved metals prior to the treatment process. Based on the research results, magnetic methods can be used to identify the distribution patterns of leachate in the Ngipik Landfill area.
