Abstract

Magang di PT Sun Paper Source dilaksanakan sebagai bentuk implementasi pembelajaran vokasi untuk meningkatkan kompetensi mahasiswa melalui penerapan ilmu Teknik Kimia Industri di lingkungan manufaktur kertas tisu. Selama kegiatan magang, dilakukan pengamatan terhadap proses produksi mulai dari pengolahan bahan baku, proses deinking, paper mill, pengendalian kualitas, hingga pengolahan limbah industri. Selain itu, dilakukan kegiatan troubleshooting pada unit Krofta (Dissolved Air Flotation/DAF) di Instalasi Pengolahan Air Limbah (IPAL) untuk menganalisis penyebab tingginya kadar Total Suspended Solid (TSS) pada outlet serta menentukan dosis optimum koagulan dan flokulan guna meningkatkan efisiensi penyisihan TSS. Sebagai implementasi keilmuan Teknik Kimia, kegiatan magang juga mencakup penyusunan Process Block Diagram (PBD), Process Flow Diagram (PFD), Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID), perhitungan neraca massa dan neraca energi, serta analisis Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP). Secara keseluruhan, kegiatan magang memberikan pemahaman mengenai proses produksi, pengendalian kualitas, pengolahan limbah, serta penerapan prinsip rekayasa proses dan penyelesaian masalah di industri manufaktur kertas tisu.

This internship was conducted at PT Sun Paper Source as part of the implementation of vocational education to enhance students' competencies through the practical application of Industrial Chemical Engineering principles in the tissue paper manufacturing industry. During the internship, observations were carried out on the overall production process, including raw material preparation, the deinking process, paper mill operations, quality control, and wastewater treatment. In addition, a troubleshooting study was performed on the Krofta (Dissolved Air Flotation/DAF) unit in the Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) to analyze the causes of the high Total Suspended Solids (TSS) concentration in the outlet and to determine the optimum coagulant and flocculant dosages for improving TSS removal efficiency. As an application of chemical engineering knowledge, the internship also involved the development of a Process Block Diagram (PBD), Process Flow Diagram (PFD), Piping and Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID), mass and energy balance calculations, and a Hazard and Operability Study (HAZOP). Overall, the internship provided comprehensive knowledge of the tissue paper manufacturing process, quality control, wastewater treatment, process engineering, and industrial problem-solving.
