Abstract

Biogas merupakan salah satu sumber energi terbarukan yang dimanfaatkan sebagai bahan bakar boiler di PT Energi Agro Nusantara (ENERO). Namun, kandungan hidrogen sulfida (H₂S) dalam biogas dapat menyebabkan korosi pada peralatan dan menurunkan efisiensi proses sehingga diperlukan proses pemurnian sebelum digunakan. Salah satu metode yang efektif untuk mengurangi kadar H₂S adalah absorpsi kimia menggunakan larutan metildiethanolamina (MDEA). Laporan magang ini bertujuan merancang kolom absorber berbasis simulasi Aspen HYSYS untuk menurunkan kadar H₂S pada aliran biogas di PT Energi Agro Nusantara. Perancangan dilakukan berdasarkan data operasi biogas plant dengan memodelkan proses absorpsi menggunakan pelarut MDEA. Hasil simulasi digunakan untuk menentukan kondisi operasi dan parameter utama rancangan kolom absorber. Hasil perancangan menunjukkan bahwa proses absorpsi menggunakan MDEA mampu menurunkan kadar H₂S secara efektif sehingga kualitas biogas sebagai gas umpan boiler dapat ditingkatkan. Selain itu, simulasi Aspen HYSYS memberikan rancangan awal kolom absorber yang dapat dijadikan acuan dalam pengembangan sistem desulfurisasi biogas di PT Energi Agro Nusantara.

Biogas is one of the renewable energy sources utilized as boiler fuel at PT Energi Agro Nusantara (ENERO). However, the presence of hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) in biogas may cause equipment corrosion and reduce process efficiency, making gas purification necessary before utilization. One of the most effective methods for H₂S removal is chemical absorption using methyldiethanolamine (MDEA). This internship report aims to design an absorber column using Aspen HYSYS simulation to reduce the H₂S concentration in the biogas stream at PT Energi Agro Nusantara. The design was developed based on operational data from the biogas plant by modeling the absorption process with MDEA solvent. The simulation results were used to determine the operating conditions and the main design parameters of the absorber column. The simulation results indicate that the MDEA absorption process effectively reduces the H₂S concentration, thereby improving the quality of biogas as boiler feed gas. Furthermore, the Aspen HYSYS simulation provides a preliminary absorber column design that can serve as a reference for the development of a biogas desulfurization system at PT Energi Agro Nusantara.
