Abstract

Instalasi Pengolahan Lumpur Tinja (IPLT) Betoyoguci Gresik menghasilkan lumpur kering yang berpotensi dimanfaatkan sebagai media tanam, namun secara fisik masih kurang mendukung aerasi dan perkembangan akar sehingga pemanfaatannya belum optimal. Di sisi lain, kasgot Black Soldier Fly (BSF) dari Rumah BSF Puspa Agro diketahui mampu memperbaiki sifat fisik media tanam melalui kontribusi bahan organik stabil dan rongga aerasi alami. Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis karakteristik lumpur kering IPLT Betoyoguci dan kasgot BSF Puspa Agro, serta mengevaluasi campuran keduanya sebagai stabilizer media tanam untuk tanaman non-pangan. Penelitian berskala laboratorium dilakukan di Green House Departemen Teknik Lingkungan ITS dengan variasi rasio campuran kasgot-lumpur kering LK1, LK2, dan LK3, ditambah kontrol L dan K. Campuran media diuji pada dua tanaman yaitu adam hawa (Tradescantia spathacea) dan hati ungu (Tradescantia pallida). Parameter karakteristik media mencakup kadar air, pH, C-organik, N total, rasio C/N, P, K, bahan ikutan, logam berat (Pb, Cd, Cr, As, dan Hg), serta cemaran mikroba yang dibandingkan dengan SNI 7763:2024 standar pupuk organik padat. Hasil pengujian karakteristik menunjukkan bahwa penambahan kasgot Black Soldier Fly (BSF) menurunkan kadar air media tanam, yaitu 16,74% pada LK1, 35,48% pada LK2, dan 41,25% pada LK3, sedangkan C-organik meingkat dari 44,63% pada LK1, 42,53% pada LK2, dan 41,74% pada LK3. Pada analisis pertumbuhan tanaman selama 30 hari, media L meningkatkan jumlah daun tanaman adam hawa dan hati ungu berturut-turut sebesar 8 dan 9 helai, sedangkan media LK2 memberikan pertambahan jumlah daun tertinggi pada hati ungu 15 helai, meski pada adam hawa tanaman akhirnya mati akibat infeksi jamur setelah sempat bertambah 3 helai daun dalam 20 hari pertama. Media K, LK1, dan LK3 menurunkan jumlah daun tanaman hati ungu berturut-turut sebesar 16, 11, dan 15 helai. Media tanam dengan variasi LK2 dan L efektif sebagai stabilizer media tanam bagi pertumbuhan tanaman adam hawa dan hati ungu, sedangkan variasi K, LK1, dan LK3 kurang efektif.

The Fecal Sludge Treatment Plant (FSTP) produces dried sludge with potential applications as a growing medium. However, its physical properties remain suboptimal in supporting aeration and root development, thereby limiting its practical utilization. Meanwhile, Black Soldier Fly (BSF) frass derived from the Rumah BSF Puspa Agro facility has been shown to improve the physical characteristics of growing media through its contribution of stable organic matter and natural aeration pores. This study aims to analyze the characteristics of dried sludge from FSTP Betoyoguci and BSF frass, as well as to evaluate their combined mixture as a growing medium stabilizer for non-food crops. A laboratory-scale experiment was conducted at the Green House of the Department of Environmental Engineering, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember (ITS), employing frass-to-dried sludge mixing ratios of 1:1, 1:2, and 1:3, alongside controls consisting of pure dried sludge and pure frass. The prepared growing media mixtures were tested on Tradescantia spathacea and Tradescantia pallida. Media characterization parameters included moisture content, pH, organic carbon (C-organic), total nitrogen (N-total), C/N ratio, phosphorus (P), potassium (K), foreign matter, heavy metals (Pb, Cd, Cr, As, and Hg), as well as microbial contamination, all of which were evaluated against the SNI 7763:2024. The characterization results indicate that the addition of BSF frass decreased the moisture content of the growing media, with values of 16.74% in LK1, 35.48% in LK2, and 41.25% in LK3, while organic carbon decreased from 44.63% in LK1 to 42.53% in LK2 and 41.74% in LK3. In the 30-day plant growth analysis, treatment L increased leaf number in T. spathacea and T. pallida by 8 and 9 leaves, respectively, while treatment LK2 produced the highest leaf number increase in T. pallida (15 leaves), although the T. spathacea plant under this treatment eventually died from fungal infection after an initial increase of 3 leaves within the first 20 days. Treatments K, LK1, and LK3 decreased T. pallida leaf number by 16, 11, and 15 leaves. The LK2 and L treatments are concluded to be effective for the growth of T. spathacea and T. pallida, whereas treatments K, LK1, and LK3 were less effective.
