Abstract

Asam sulfat (H₂SO₄) merupakan bahan kimia yang berperan penting dalam berbagai industri, seperti industri pupuk, pengolahan minyak bumi, farmasi, kertas, dan tekstil. Seiring dengan meningkatnya perkembangan industri kimia di Indonesia, kebutuhan asam sulfat terus mengalami peningkatan, sementara pasokannya masih bergantung pada impor. Untuk memenuhi kebutuhan tersebut, direncanakan pembangunan pabrik asam sulfat berkapasitas 400.000 ton/tahun yang berlokasi di Kawasan Industri Karangkandri, Cilacap, Jawa Tengah. Pabrik ini menggunakan proses single absorber, dengan tahapan proses meliputi peleburan sulfur padat, pembakaran sulfur menjadi SO₂, oksidasi SO₂ menjadi SO₃ di dalam converter, serta penyerapan SO₃ pada absorber tower hingga diperoleh produk asam sulfat berkonsentrasi 98%. Pabrik direncanakan beroperasi secara kontinu selama 330 hari per tahun dengan waktu operasi 24 jam per hari. Berdasarkan analisis ekonomi, proyek ini membutuhkan investasi (CAPEX) sebesar Rp721,63 miliar dan biaya operasional (OPEX) sebesar Rp1,20 triliun. Nilai NPV sebesar Rp2,53 triliun, IRR sebesar 57%, dan POT selama 3,63 tahun menunjukkan bahwa proyek pendirian pabrik asam sulfat ini layak untuk direalisasikan baik dari aspek teknis maupun ekonomi.

Sulfuric acid (H₂SO₄) is an essential chemical widely used in various industries, including fertilizer production, petroleum refining, pharmaceuticals, paper manufacturing, and textile processing. As the chemical industry in Indonesia continues to expand, the demand for sulfuric acid has steadily increased, while the domestic supply remains dependent on imports. To meet this growing demand, the construction of a sulfuric acid plant with a production capacity of 400,000 tons/year is proposed in the Karangkandri Industrial Area, Cilacap, Central Java. The plant employs the single absorber process, which includes sulfur melting, sulfur combustion to produce SO₂, oxidation of SO₂ into SO₃ in a converter, and absorption of SO₃ in an absorber tower to produce 98% sulfuric acid. The plant is designed to operate continuously for 330 days per year, 24 hours a day. Based on the economic analysis, the project requires a capital expenditure (CAPEX) of IDR 721.63 billion and an operating expenditure (OPEX) of IDR 1.20 trillion. The project generates a Net Present Value (NPV) of IDR 2.53 trillion, an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 57%, and a Pay Out Time (POT) of 3.63 years, indicating that the proposed sulfuric acid plant is technically and economically feasible.
