Abstract
Industri keramik menuntut kestabilan proses dan konsistensi mutu produk, khususnya pada tahap pembentukan powder menggunakan spray dryer. Kegiatan magang ini dilaksanakan di Departemen Quality Assurance dan Quality Control PT Arwana Citramulia Tbk Plant III Gresik dengan tujuan mengevaluasi kinerja spray dryer serta mengidentifikasi penyebab dominan defect kontaminasi powder. Metode yang digunakan meliputi observasi lapangan, wawancara dengan operator dan teknisi, studi literatur, serta pengolahan data operasional dan kualitas produk. Evaluasi kinerja peralatan dilakukan menggunakan Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), sedangkan identifikasi akar penyebab dan penentuan prioritas risiko dilakukan melalui Root Cause Analysis (RCA) dan Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA). Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata OEE spray dryer sebesar 74,32%, yang terdiri atas Availability Rate 91,00%, Performance Rate 33,65%, dan Quality Rate 98,32%. Nilai tersebut menunjukkan bahwa ketersediaan peralatan dan mutu powder telah tergolong baik, namun efektivitas proses masih dibatasi oleh rendahnya Performance Rate. Analisis RCA menunjukkan bahwa kontaminasi powder dipengaruhi oleh ketidakstabilan parameter operasi, kondisi burner, filter udara, chimney, dan cyclone. Berdasarkan analisis FMEA, burner menjadi komponen dengan tingkat risiko tertinggi dengan nilai Risk Priority Number sebesar 300. Rekomendasi perbaikan meliputi pembersihan burner tip secara berkala, pemeriksaan jalur bahan bakar dan udara pembakaran, penyeragaman parameter operasi antarshift, serta inspeksi kestabilan nyala api. Secara keseluruhan, penerapan OEE, RCA, dan FMEA mampu memberikan dasar evaluasi yang sistematis untuk meningkatkan kinerja spray dryer, menurunkan defect kontaminasi powder, dan mendukung konsistensi kualitas produk keramik. Pendekatan ini juga membantu perusahaan menentukan fokus pemeliharaan preventif dan pengendalian proses berdasarkan tingkat kepentingan setiap sumber kegagalan yang teridentifikasi.

The ceramic industry requires process stability and consistent product quality, particularly during powder preparation using a spray dryer. This internship was conducted in the Quality Assurance and Quality Control Department of PT Arwana Citramulia Tbk Plant III Gresik to evaluate spray dryer performance and identify the causes of powder contamination defects. The methods included field observations, interviews with operators and technicians, literature review, and analysis of operational and quality data. Equipment performance was evaluated using Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), while Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) identified root causes and established risk priorities.The results showed that the spray dryer achieved an average OEE value of 74.32%, consisting of an Availability Rate of 91.00%, a Performance Rate of 33.65%, and a Quality Rate of 98.32%. These results indicate that equipment availability and powder quality were satisfactory, although process effectiveness remained limited by the low Performance Rate. RCA showed that powder contamination was influenced by unstable operating parameters and the condition of the burner, air filter, chimney, and cyclone. FMEA identified the burner as the component with the highest risk level, with a Risk Priority Number of 300. Recommended improvements include periodic cleaning of the burner tip, inspection of fuel and combustion air lines, standardization of operating parameters across shifts, and regular monitoring of flame stability. Overall, the application of OEE, RCA, and FMEA provided a systematic basis for improving spray dryer performance, reducing powder contamination defects, strengthening preventive maintenance, and maintaining consistent ceramic product quality.
